3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tasted this in the Salt Cot, Saltcoats (JDW) in June 2012. Cask, handpump dispense. Lovely warm russet tone in colour with a thin off white head. Slight hint of malt in the aroma but hard to detect anything else. Thin mouthfeel and good lacing. Mixed malts give a digestive biscuit base with a subtle flavour of Highland toffee in there. Brief note of spicy hop resins noted in the short bitter aftertaste. Finish is slightly sweet with toffee still present and hazelnuts evident in the palate. An ok session bitter which will aid the plight of the Red Squirrel.

Draught: This has some funkiness to it that I was not prepared for with a bitter.

I wasn’t too impressed with my first bottle of this. Had another bottle recently and it was much better but still not totally convincing. Drinking my first one on tap right now and what a difference. Can I taste nuts or am I just imagining it? Bit of herb as well. Malty, not too bitter. Nice.

Pint @ Bull Inn, Paisley. A lovely dark copper colour, with a tasty nutty aroma. Malt taste. I could see myself drinking a few of these.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Cask conditioned at Minehead Beer Fest ’12. Reddy amber with no head. This had a real perfumed chemical note about it, a little harsh, some almond notes on top. Late caramel. Not really to my taste.

Fairly good bitter - I though it was quite decent - it tasted fresh to me

1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Cask@Fat Cat Brewery Tap, Norwich. Amber colour, small off-white head. Aroma is caramel, some wood, sour berries and mild herbal notes. Flavour is sour wood, berries, wooden and some mild ripe fruits. Probably some sourness infection in this one... Need to re-rate when possibility is given.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Cask - The Fat Cat Brewery Tap, Norwich. Poured with a bubbly & mostly disappearing off-white head atop a clear, dark amber body. Negligible aroma, mainly of sour fruits and yeast. Tart mid fruits and yeast to taste too with a delicate background toastiness. Somewhat empty on the mid to end palate. Light to medium body, soft palate texture, lingering sour-dominated finish. Something not right here.
