| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 18, 2009 Appearance: Pours a dark amber, with two fingers of tan, fluffy head. The body is fairly clear, you can see objects through the glass and the beer. There isn’t much visable active carbonation rising from the body.
Aroma: Buiscuity malts, earthy hops.
Taste: Huge amounts of bitter, metallic hops head straight for the back of my tongue. Just a really minute level of malt sweetness is there, but most of the malt I taste is close to bready, rather than sweet.
Mouthfeel: Heavy and thick for sure.
Overall: I’m worthy, but this is a tough sell. I can appeal to many audiences, all for different reasons. I give this beer extra credit for hooking me on Stone. While my intentions were to guzzle down a 7.2% beer at the time, I found myself intrigued with hops after having this a few times. Also of note, this beer is great fresh on tap, and OAKED Arrogant Bastard is way better than this even. Craybees (17), New York, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 16, 2009 A nice, smooth pour. Just the right side of bitterness. Medium-to-full body. Quite good for the price, really. jimmbo123 (37), Washington, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 16, 2009 Exceptional hop flavor predominates over a great basic beer base. This was the first beer I ever liked with more hop flavor than Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Many other beers from many other brewers seem to try miserably to mimic this. However, it is not as good as their Levitation Ale. cprochak (393), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 16, 2009 Bottle from Bottleworks. Pours a dark amber with light tan bubbly head. Honey, molasses and alcohol aroma. Strong sweet honey flavor balanced well with light bitterness. Thick, syrupy but a good finish. Grovlam (3805), Copenhagen, Denmark
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 15, 2009 Bottle. Large creamy like beige head that mostly lasted. Good display of lacework. Amber color. Aroma nice mellow pineapple, grapefruit, citrus. Over the palate came heavy malty and hoppy notes on a smooth mix, yet quite heavy feel. Full bodied with an average carbonation and dry texture. Moderated bitter and sweet flavor in balance. Lingering bitter floral and strong malty finish. Excellent beer.
