tokyogoat (505), San Diego, California, USA May 7, 2009 little head, resembles a barleywine in pour.
Smells of light pine hops and memories of getting really drunk and hooking up with extremely questionable women.
Taste just doesnt do it for me anymore. Too sweet. Tastes are strong of pine hops and dark brown sugar and dark fruits.
All the flavors are just having a food fight on my tongue.
rader58 (166), Leawood, Kansas, USA May 7, 2009 Pours a DARK brown with tints of amber. Aroma of chocolate, cherries and molasses. Taste is hoppy with malt to match. Very good balance. Slightly bitter finish. Very good beer drseusszb200 (185), Florida, USA May 5, 2009 pours deep amber almost brown with a head that fades quickly smells of hops tastes of hop with a malt balane. very nicely balanced. AndyHasFins (24), Tampa, Florida, USA May 5, 2009 This beer just assaults your taste buds, but in the best way. At first sip it almost (almost) feels like it’s going to be to much, but after you get past that, you’ll be craving more. ben4321 (957), Rockville, Maryland, USA May 5, 2009 Updated: Jul 9, 2009Location: First tried this one on tap at the Capital Ale House...lets guess 2002, have had it many times since then bottled and on tap.
Overall Impression:
Really well done strong, flavorful ale. Love this one. This was really the beer that got me interested in the Micro beer movement and sampling new beers. I remember ordering one of these on tap when the Capital Ale House opened in Richmond, VA, and just loving it, and I still really enjoy it today. Since then I have tried many, many other beers, but I still come back to this one as the beer that forged my interest and corralled my taste buds down the beer drinking worm hole I may never escape (lets hope!). gunnar (486), Sandnes, Norway May 4, 2009 Bottle. Pours deep amber with a medium sized off-white head. Extremely hoppy aroma, makes my palate go into red alert.
When this beer hits my tongue, my tongue implodes and try to escape the extreme bitterness. Well, I suppose i’m not worthy, this is simply too much........ mrgriff420 (8), Cliffside Park, New Jersey, USA does not count May 2, 2009 This beer is certainly arrogant. Not for the faint of heart or those who do not enjoy their taste buds being suckered punched. acaine (1), Florida, USA does not count May 1, 2009 This beer is definitely arrogant. Not for the faint of heart, but man do I enjoy it! I find that this is great in colder weather.
