22 oz bottle from the Arrogant Bastard Box poured into a nonic pint glass. Clear amber with two fingers of beige head. Aromas of caramel, toffee, floral hops. Tastes of caramel, toffee, pine, floral notes, good amount of bitter hops. Like a cross between a brown ale and an IPA. Medium body with a dry finish.

The innovator. This has been killing it in my opinion for over decade. Always spot on with heels big hops and malts. Good to see a perfect brew available when ever you desire.

Good beer. A little hot for only being 7%. Thought it would be closer to 11%. Good stuff you won't be disappointed.

It is definitely an aggressive beer compared to the standard commercial fare, but for craft beers and for me it’s actually a real nice balance of the toasted malts, some hops, caramel, little bitter on back. It’s pretty drinkable for 7.2%. Could probably chug them on tap and get myself in trouble.

Before rate beer, I’d have never tried this. I had looked at it many times and wondered what was. Finally time to try it I guess. Bottle, color dark Amber, big creamy white head, huge lacing. Aroma spruce, raisin, malt. Flavor is malt, citrus rind bitter, orange. Finish is bitter sweet. This has a lot of sweet malt backbone, with a big, hops bitter, which I guess is what they are known for. Palate is rich and smooth, carbonation moderate.

Pours a deep, ruby amber with a small tan head (but decent retention). Aroma is a bit on the faint side, including notes of caramel, coffee, pine, and resin. Taste wise, you’re greeted with notes of coffee and roasted nuts, thick caramel and molasses, and floral pine and resin lingering on the palate. Full bodied, lively carbonation, long and bitter finish. Quite enjoyed this one.

Excellent beverage with a gorgeously well-balanced bitterness backed by a full malty body and thick, creamy texture. A modern American classic.

Big bang as the cap shifted towards the ceiling. Strong waft of nutty praline filled the room. Beyond it is woody, nutty; heaving with roasted, oddly phenolic husky grains, over sparged or the like - nothing like burnt toast in your beer!
Palate is sweet, residually and forefront. Sticky, icky with bitter burnt sugar notes not helping. This is sweet, Cara, crystal, Vienna, don’t care what they used I believe I’ve failed to find the depth. Medial body with developing (thankfully) rough, earthy, spicy, floral and piney hop notes as it warms near room temperature. Carbonation is moderate softening greatly as it heads south. Pepperberries, juniper and a hint of mace give it thrill otherwise it is sugar and wood driven. Perplexed as it has taken me years to taste the Bastard and it treats me like that. Bastard!!!.
