4.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
On tap at Dan's. The pour is a deep ruby/brown pour, lightly opaque with a small head of medium khaki that leaves some great lacing. The aroma is strongly malty with a subtle underlying hop to it. Very good and very deep. A nice caramel and earthiness hides a bitterness that's just lying in wait. The taste is definitely sweet and malty up front but then this arrogant bastard just blasts you with a great bitter hoppiness. Lightly floral, strongly bitter, and nicely malty on the back end. The mouth feel is light, but had great carbonation backing it up with a lingering, very dry, bitter, malty aftertaste. I like it!

Great beer. Nice head retention and color. Good aroma, malt, caramel, some chocolate. Excellent taste, sweet in the beginning and bitter finish.

Great beer! Well worth a try. Great aroma and flavor and the high alcohol content helps too :)

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Appearance- very dark ruby, pretty opaque, one finger off-white head which is thick and foamy. Aroma- caramel and toffee, malts, hoppy, yeast, sugary fruit, bread. Taste- loads of hop bitterness and a firm malt backbone. Toffee, sugary raisin, hop resins, boozy fruitcake. Cherry and hints of marzipan come through as it warms. Mouthfeel is sticky and a bit oily. Bitterness clings to the mouth and tongue and lasts forever. Impressive.

Unbelievable that I havenít rated this yet after having it many times from the bottle and draft. Pours reddish copper color with a small off white head that leaves rings of lace. The aroma and flavor have PNW hops, caramel malts, raisins, wood, with herbal and earthy character good bittering hops, medium body, complex and very well balanced. Prior to ratebeer this was a beer I drank quite a bit of at home and out.

Picked up a bomber. Pours a reddish brown with minimal khaki colored head. The aroma is bland with some subtle caramel malt notes. Despite some reviews mentioning strong hop notes I do not detect any. Taste is initially sweet malt but quickly transitions to a strong bitterness that lingers into the finish. Full bodied and creamy.
