3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: NOV 16, 2006
On tap at the Cowgirl Hall of Fame in Santa Fe.
Pours a dark and robust brown with amber highlight and an adequate head. This beer is almost a caricature of a Stone Brewing beer - not that this is a bad thing. The aroma is a brash and in-your-face combination of strong PacNW hops and conspicuous toasted malts; the taste follows as expected, avoiding the heavy hop + too-dark roasted malt mistake of many American strong ales (particularly the winter seasonals). No war between hops and malt here, both hold up their end of the bargain. The palate is pleasing, and beer is very satisfying to drink. A good in-your-face session beer, this one.
Bottle Compairing this to the oaked bastard that I had last night, it just doesnít hold up. All of the stuff I wrote above is more or less true, but the hops are too ruinition-esque to bring out the best in the rest of the beer. Mellow the whole thing out with oak, and it really comes into its own.

UPDATED: APR 2, 2006 Great taste, dark ruddy color. Agressive taste is a good description. The flavor is so strong that it stayed with me into my next beer which I wasnít a fan of. The packaging is borderline obnoxious - funny at first, got old fast - Iím just as worthy as the next guy, aíthank you.

This beer is best described by "Chinook Hops" and just stopping there. This is a beer that is wonderful to drink, however, per its namesake, this will be the only beer you will be drinking that night, a real palate killer. Execlent beer to accompany curries and pho

"Surprising i like this more then i thought i would. Poured a ruby color with a small to medium head. Left good lacing on the glass. Smell citrus and hoppy. Taste sweet to start, then turns bitter. Very good beer."

Like a cheap skunky latin american malta vigor drink with a punch of alcohol. I liked the complex fruity undetone but I did not like the turn it took as it warmed. Most of this beerís cousins would improve a little with warmth but this one does not. Nor does it play nice in a beer tasting.

Bottle thanx to Luke. Brown colour with a small off-white head. Sweet, grasst, hoppy, grape fruity aroma and taste. Medium to full body with a sweet bitter dry finish.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Deep mahogany pour, off white head. Thick, lovely lacing. Nose is grapefruit and some roasted malts. Flavors follow the nose, but more complex - lightly roasted malt, citrusy grapefruit, and a touch of sweetness - but just a touch! Finish is slightly bitter rising from the sides of the tongue. Very nice - for an arrogant bastard...

Delicious beer. Dark red. Some malt. Hop overload. Oddly smooth. Excellent.

This one runs hot and cold. And Iíve found it to have quite a few variations from bottle to bottle and tap to tap. Itís always pretty good, but some times it is really good. Ton of hops and grassy sweetness. Amazingly smooth mouthfeel. It could go to a 4, but Iíll keep it at 3.8 due to itís variation.
