COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is an aggressive beer. You probably won’t like it. It is quite doubtful that you have the taste or sophistication to appreciate an ale of this quality and depth.

Big hoppy, biscuity nose. This is a big beer that doesn’t go too far. Perfect balance of rich caramel malt and fat, chunky citrusy hops. Very funny label. Really good, but I think I was expecting something more. Maybe it’s just all the hype on here about Stones Ales!

Lots and lots of tiny bubbles, beautiful creamy soft head. A boat load of hops in this bully. Well roasted with hints of chocolate and nuts too! Damn, the malts & floral notes on the tongue sing in chorus with each other. Long finish, robust brew, solid all around. I’d love to keep these around for novice freinds.

Deep red-orange color with nice lace. Full floral hop aroma with lots of pineapple and grapefruit in the nose. Nice malt backbone with sweet grapefruit/citrus flavors. It does taste like the Double Bastard’s little brother, but the DB is so huge that little brother is still damn good.

Excellent beer for hop-heads. It was hard to taste this impartially given the amount of hype there is about it, so perhaps someday I should re-rate blindly somehow. In any case, no amount of hype can make crap taste good, so my taste buds weren’t lying when I took my first sip and I started grinning. This was awesome! Inital hop flavor (and aroma) exceeding that of Sierra Nevada Bigfoot, but less than Two Hearted Ale. Following the hop blast comes subtle maltiness (caramel?) that you have to ’look for’ a bit - it might be easily missed behind all the hops. Finishes nice and dry, and for the next half hour your burps will taste fantastic!

UPDATED: JAN 7, 2004 Re-rate: This bottle was aged about a year. The hops have mellowed a bit in the aroma and given way to more complex bready crystal malts. Good sweet caramel flavor blends well with the bitterness. Still no sign of alcohol. I think the aging has made this less "arrogant", but I enjoy it more. Original Rating: This has a fresh citrusy hop aroma with hints of caramel malt. Deep copper with a thick, lacy, cougar-colored head that coats the glass as it diminishes. Starts slightly malty and sweet, almost chocolatey, finishes sort of sticky and astringently bitter, but remains pretty well balanced. Another plus is that you really can't taste the ABV. In my opinion, they used to many bittering hops, and not enough aroma or flavor hops.

Dark ruby brown with a fairly thick head. Interesting aroma of cinnamon apples, allspice, orange pulp, ginger, and a big hop note that wasn’t quite as brash as expected. Spritzy texture, which is welcome considering gravity. Lots of caramel malt depth and cider-like sweetness, drawing out nicely in a long, bittering finish. Unbalanced or not, this beer hits all of the right taste buds...I’m a big fan, and I wish it wasn’t so hard for me to get. Thanks Dogbrick.

Has a dark amber color and smell of hops. Taste is of hops and finishes with hoppy bitterness. Overall this stuff is pretty good, but then again I am not worthy to drink it so Stone can go screw...
