COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is an aggressive beer. You probably won’t like it. It is quite doubtful that you have the taste or sophistication to appreciate an ale of this quality and depth.

Appealing citrus aroma. Awesome complex taste, can’t identify much except for a slight pineapple/grapefruit flavor and a bit of alcohol (masked well).

Pours dark copper with a respectable head. Aroma is dominated by hops which kick you in the ass when you have a taste. A nice sweetness somewhat balances. Great beer.

Strong burnt caramel with plenty of pine/orange hoppiness in the nose. Finger of large-bubbled but lasting tan head recedes with rings of lace atop dark copper-amber body. Aggressive bitterness with underlying thick, sweet malt base, though the resinous hops definitely have the spotlight. Lasting bitterness on the tongue and in the back of the throat. Medium-full body and chewy mouthfeel. It just gets better and better with each sip as the hops build on your palate. Bottle. Thanks, Dorwart!

A nice dark reddish colored beer with a rather small head. It has a nice balanced, yet complex taste that isnt’ overwhelming. A very nice beer that is a lot different than much of the stuff out there

UPDATED: AUG 24, 2004 Aug 24-04: Redemption! Similar body, appearance etc. Malt is far more present than previously, and bitterness is more pleasant and less astringent. Very nicely balanced yet still aggressively hopped, a substantial chewy enjoyable beer. Touch of alcohol and grapefruit in the back end.<P> Aug 16/04: Dark red brown body with a moderate tan head. Resiny hops in the aroma, hint of caramel and alcohol poiking through. Flavour is fairly bitter with what lots of a quality I attributed to humulin but I am not sure. Not as hoppy and bitter as I expected. Heavy aftertaste seems a bit off at first but is less noticable after a few belts. Nice mouthfeel, a bit thicker than average. This is a bit of an adjustment. I had high hopes for this one and while good it was a bit of a disappointment. I have a second bottle so we shall see how it compares. Thanks to Callie for the pick up in California, and to the Ratebeerian who brought one to Dougs place. 7/3/6/4/15

Another great brew from Stone, smooth but also bitter. Poured a brownish body, with a light head, and a hoppy aroma. Litely sweet beer but not too much, a very nice ale.

UPDATED: AUG 15, 2004 finally found this son of a bitch in Illinois. It was crazy good, though not exactly what I expected. The hops are uber, but you don’t realize it until you try to drink something else afterwards. Beautiful blood red color with a brown head. quite sweet and fruity with a matching hop profile. Lighter in taste than expected, smelled/tasted of apples and some syrups. Very good.

Draft at Flour City Brewfest. Wow, I was blown away by this beer. I could not describe all the flavors in this complex beer. It has alot to offer with a suprisingly smooth finnish. I went back for more samples of this brew.

Bottle: Poured a deep opaque brown colored beer with a medium head with standard retention. Aroma is very powerful and consist mostly of what I think to be hops, a sweet and bitter type of hops though. Taste is quite unique for me (I think this is my first foray into the strong American Ale type) and consist mostly of some strong bitter hops and underline by some very subtle sweetness. Wow, this is like being hit on the head with a brick – plainly lots of malt and hops are included in here. The alcohol is a subtle but complement very well.
