This is an aggressive beer. You probably won’t like it. It is quite doubtful that you have the taste or sophistication to appreciate an ale of this quality and depth.

Poured reddish brown with a nice off white head...smells sweet alcohol with lemony hint...tastes very rich and complex...very sweet at first then turning bitter and sour...definately a good one to have once a year...

One of the best beers ive ever had. The marketing accentuates the taste and fullness of this beer. Shell out the bucks and taste it for yourself.

UPDATED: OCT 24, 2004 (Draft: O'Brien's in San Diego, CA) On tap, this beer tastes and smells surprising floral and sugary, but in this tasting session, it is being compared to pints of an oak aged version of Arrogant Bastard and Double Bastard; However, the strong hops bitterness and bite is still prevelent, even after sipping some Double Bastard; The mouthfeel also seems a little thin; Off-white head has average retention; For comparison's sake, some notes from previous bottles: Medium to full bodied, malty and very aggressively hopped, moreso than a typical IPAs; The malt is fairly sweet, and quite strong in flavor; Dark and brownish amber in color; Somewhat cloudy from fine sediment suspended in the beer

A very great tasting beer. Strong alcohol content yet is covered up beautifully. Finally got my hands on one of these at Isaac Newton’s in newtown.

Beautiful reddish/brown color. Pretty aggressive end and quite bitter. Dry and malty flavor. I truely love the philosophy about this beer.

Red-brown with nice head and lace. Malty-caramel and hops in abundance. Dried fruits (raisins) and vegetables. Finish is bitter, grapefruit and strong tea - it lasts for hours.

Appearence: Beautiful dark red, pours a larger off white head. Aroma is sweet and a slight scent of alcohol comes through. a little citrus present also. Flavor is dominated by alcohol and hops. A slight malted taste comes through towards the end. Overall a very strong flavorful ale, not for the weak of stomach. Many thanks go out to Indiana_Red for my first Stone brew!

22OzBottle Pours a dark coper brown with a nice hefty off white head and dence lacing. Aroma is malty, carmel and plenty of hops. A dark roast taste and a unique flavor I cant place. Spicy, slightly sweet. The alcohol comes through pretty strong..and this just in....quite hoppy. A strong lingering hops bitter at the end. Feel is nice and heavy/thick with a slight sense of sediment or chalky imed after swallowing. A complex, strong, ale.

Best name and persona in the biz. I had this on tap at the GingerMan in NYC. A hearty pint hit the spot. Hops were the first thing that I noticed, but over time I noticed much more. I will have to rerate when I try a bottle as I cannot describe this properly right now.
