This is an aggressive beer. You probably wonít like it. It is quite doubtful that you have the taste or sophistication to appreciate an ale of this quality and depth.

Rating no# 100. Pours a dark brown with a thick tan head. Aromas of hops (pine, grapefruit) dominate with some malt in background. Yep itís aggressive alright, massive piney, grapefruit hops and plenty of malts, caramel as well, thick mouthfeel. The alcohol is well hidden, great lacing. Nice beer!

By far the most Complex and interesting beer I have ever come across. I had Drank the Ruination right before this one so my tongue was still a little puckered. I will have to drink another next week and gave a more suited review

Nice crisp, clean citrusy aroma, mainly grapefruit, with some hops. Pours deep brown with a fluffy beige head that left good lacing. Strong hoppy flavor with definite grapefruit flavor. Very citrusy with subtle, almost non-existent, sweetness. Good palate but the grapefruit is very prominent with bitter finish. Seems better than it did 6 years ago.

Complex brew...definite burnt malt/caramel flavor with a hoppy/citrus finish. Kind of a war of the taste buds, between the malt and hops. Unfortunately my only chance to try this beer was at a temperature slightly colder than 70 degrees or so. Iím going to re-rate this one once I get a nice cold sample.

Pours a dark muddy copper color, with a decent tan head. Spotty lacing. Citrus and pine dominate the aroma, with some raisin hiding in the back. Flavor starts off malty sweet with a grapefruity finish.

Appealing citrus aroma. Awesome complex taste, canít identify much except for a slight pineapple/grapefruit flavor and a bit of alcohol (masked well).

Pours dark copper with a respectable head. Aroma is dominated by hops which kick you in the ass when you have a taste. A nice sweetness somewhat balances. Great beer.

Strong burnt caramel with plenty of pine/orange hoppiness in the nose. Finger of large-bubbled but lasting tan head recedes with rings of lace atop dark copper-amber body. Aggressive bitterness with underlying thick, sweet malt base, though the resinous hops definitely have the spotlight. Lasting bitterness on the tongue and in the back of the throat. Medium-full body and chewy mouthfeel. It just gets better and better with each sip as the hops build on your palate. Bottle. Thanks, Dorwart!

A nice dark reddish colored beer with a rather small head. It has a nice balanced, yet complex taste that isntí overwhelming. A very nice beer that is a lot different than much of the stuff out there

UPDATED: AUG 24, 2004 Aug 24-04: Redemption! Similar body, appearance etc. Malt is far more present than previously, and bitterness is more pleasant and less astringent. Very nicely balanced yet still aggressively hopped, a substantial chewy enjoyable beer. Touch of alcohol and grapefruit in the back end.<P> Aug 16/04: Dark red brown body with a moderate tan head. Resiny hops in the aroma, hint of caramel and alcohol poiking through. Flavour is fairly bitter with what lots of a quality I attributed to humulin but I am not sure. Not as hoppy and bitter as I expected. Heavy aftertaste seems a bit off at first but is less noticable after a few belts. Nice mouthfeel, a bit thicker than average. This is a bit of an adjustment. I had high hopes for this one and while good it was a bit of a disappointment. I have a second bottle so we shall see how it compares. Thanks to Callie for the pick up in California, and to the Ratebeerian who brought one to Dougs place. 7/3/6/4/15
