This is an aggressive beer. You probably won’t like it. It is quite doubtful that you have the taste or sophistication to appreciate an ale of this quality and depth.

This ale poured a coppery brown that was very exciting to look at seated atop was amonstrous tan head that just wouldn't quit, very impressive to look at. Nose was very abundant with hops and citrus as was the flavor which was outstnding filled with grapefruit maybe some chocolatey tones... this was pretty near to perfect best American Ale I believe I've had, although there are alot more to partake of, this stuff was fantastic.

Near perfect. Nice bitter finish. If you like macro brew, stay far far far away from this. This is almost the brew of Satan. Then again, you should meet this beer's cousin...

(Draught) Thin, yellowish-beige head and cloudy body. Nose of malt and cascade hops. Strong hops flavour. Very enjoyable!

Dark amber in color. Difficult to see through in a glass. Head is dark cream color. Taste is very full with the carmel and malt being much more noticeable to me than the hops. Heavy beer. Alcohol content also seems noticeable to me. I would need to drink this with food.

MaiBockAddict (1497) - Good Beer Bar Deprived, New Jersey, USA - NOV 22, 2003
UPDATED: JUL 9, 2004 22 oz bottle. Have had numerous fresh bottles recently. The citrussy hops explode in the aroma with a big carmel maltiness. Flavor is rich and aggressively hopped with US hops. I love the balance of big hops with the rich carmel maltiness. Has become a standard. Same rating.
Initial taste:Sampled at the GBOA @ Lake Harmony. Smelled and tasted as if aged for around a year. Hoppy and sweet aroma. Rich malty flavor balanced with american hops. Reminded me of some of my 2 year old Homebrewed barley wine...

UPDATED: MAY 27, 2007 (Bottle) Pours a dark amber color with a medium creamy head. Good tasting brew with hints of caramel mixed in with lots of malt and big hops.

Rich red color with hop, pine and somewhat sweet aroma. Medium off white head with little lacing. Full rich flavor of caramel, malt and hops. Complex and strong with nice alcohol warming. Great strong American ale.

Almost a ruby brown in color with a fluffy tan head. Alcoholic hoppy aroma. Flavor is very layered. Sweet, then malty, then hoppy. Nice bitter leave. Not for everyone, but DEFINATELY for the strong willed.

Amber color with a white head. The taste is sweet with a complex finish of bitter and aromatic hops.
