4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Tan head, good froth, not much lace Deep deep red. Aroaa is a big smackdown hop, very heavy. Kind of a resiny pine with milder grain malt aromas. Some fruit, maybe pear. Awesome!! Oh wow, dry start, dry sizzly finish. Splendid beer. Thanks Beerprince!

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Very dark and very heavy. Not bad at all, but not something I'd want to sit around and drink a few bottles of. One was quite sufficient when I tried this. Still, it's not a bad brew by any means and certainly deserves its reputation.

Pours a beautiful red color with a nice light tan head. Mild hoppy aroma. Strong grapefruit hoppy flavor dominates from the beginning. Very bitter. Malt detectable underneath hops. Finishes bitter also.

4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: OCT 14, 2005 Itís a prime example of an American Brown ale.
Malty, complex, hoppy, this beer has it all. Pours out a dark copper color, my guess is ~12 - 15 Lovibond. Plenty of head on
this brute, with malty aromas up front, and a hop backbone thatíll crush any competition. Excellent balance of hops & malts
here.Long lasting lace that made it to the bottom of the glass. No small feat there. Caramel aroma, with a touch of fruitness, but
finishes very dry. Not sweet at all, in my opinion. Nice finish as itís swallowed. If youíre worthy, buy yourself as much as you
can, while you can.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JUL 6, 2008 Gorgeous maroon-amber. Hop aroma was the best part. The alcohol was well hidden and the body is smooth, tasty and drinkable, with a superb malt backbone. Excellently crafted and perilously drinkable.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Dark amber w/ finger of tan foam. Fresh, floral, leafy citrus nose. Firm & full bodied. An aggressively bitter beer w/ an excellent malt background. Extremely well-balanced & eminently quaffable.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
I like the appearance. It pours a nice thick head, and has a good dark rich color to it. The aroma is nice, but you can tell going in that it's going to be a bitter ride. I think they tried too hard with the hops. There are other flavors there that are trying to get through to your taste buds, but can't because the bitterness is just too overpowering. They tried so hard to make it bitter that it cheapened the flavor of an otherwise excellent brew.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JUL 4, 2003 Poured a beautiful dark amber color with a nice fluffy orangy-beige head. Piney, citrusy hoppy fragrance smells great. Very velvety feel, very smooth on the palate and tasting very bitter with almost an ESB type of bitterness to it that lingers for quite awhile. In fact it doesn't want to let go. A pleasant maltiness underneath, but obviously overpowered by bitterness. Name suits it well, arrogantly bitter. Bitter Bitter Bitter!

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: JUN 3, 2003 22 oz Draft My first experience (a long time ago, it seems) with the Stone Brewing Company, the striking packaging of this beer drew me in, and many bottles, pitchers, and glasses later its still just as strong, biting, and assertive. Excellent deep color, good head, wonderful depth of flavor, potent and hoppy. A fine beer from a remarkable brewery.
