This is an aggressive beer. You probably won’t like it. It is quite doubtful that you have the taste or sophistication to appreciate an ale of this quality and depth.

Very nice reddish amber color.Tall foamy head.sweet malty aroma,as well as a very nice sweet fruity aroma hard to describe the fruit but it has an almost bubble gum aroma, very nice, and a definate hop presence but not overly so just the right amount. The flavor is fantastic malty sweet with a mild punch of hops, with a strong taste of what i would say is grapefruit.kind of like an intense alcohol infused can of squirt. That leaves a citrus, hop after taste that is more then pleasant but fantastic. This is one smooth brew with everything i'm looking for flavor, hops and just a total all around drinkability that i haven't run into until now.The double bastard was good but i think the arrogant bastard slightly edges it out.the taste is there the alcohol is there and they are fused in a manner that makes it very harmonious.what a trade this is the best ASA hands down.

On tap; brown/ruby color, citrus and hop aroma. I tasted some peach flavors before a dry somewhat bitter finish. Complex, thought it was a little too aggressive the first time I had it, but since I've come to really enjoy this.

Big hop flavor. Bitter and malty flavor. I would of rated it better if it was a little more balanced in taste and finish.

UPDATED: FEB 1, 2007 Nice dark brown. Hint of hops aroma initially. Take the first sip--POW. Hello hops. But lots of dark malt there to keep it from coming completely unglued. Excellent.

Wonderful stuff. Sharp citrusy hops with bitterness out the wazoo, big fruity complex malt. Mahogany, with beige head.

Starts like a stout when cold. Caramel, raisin, slight chocolate and hops. Not much aroma when ice cold but this thing changes when it warms. Tastes more like a Dogfish Head 90 minute at the finish, pure malt and hops. Definitely a sipper and should be enjoyed like a Cuban cigar. A very complex beer and one that changes so much in a short time. Very enjoyable! I have a keg of Stone IPA and Arrogant Bastard will be next.

Tasted on 03-22-2003. I definately like the 22oz. bottle. Wow, Nice thick tan head and good lace all the way down. Deep reddish brown color. Very unique fruity odor, like maybe peaches and pears. The flavor, although difficult for me to describe, is similar to the nose. Well balanced malt and hops galore. Great mouthfeel. I cant wait to try the double. This is like a party in a bottle, yet still, I deserve better ; ]

This beer is very reminiscent of Three Floyds Alpha King or is it vice versa? Oh well. This beer is all about the hops, bubba! Pours amber with a huge, lasting head with TONS of lacing. Aroma is all citrusy hops. Slightly sweet, acidic, creamy. Finishes with that hoppy bitter goodness. Excellent alcohol kick which is well disguised. Overall an excellent hophead brew

UPDATED: MAR 5, 2004 Just goes to show how much Californians know about subtlety. Nothing! This has to be one of the fattest maltiest ales you can get, but what really hits you is the crazy piney, grapefruity hoppiness, from the moment you pop the cap you can smell it and once it's in your mouth the peppery lingering bitterness rules out tasting anything for a week. It's a beer to show how tough your tastebuds are but I wouldn't drink something like this on a regular basis. It's over the top.
