This is an aggressive beer. You probably won’t like it. It is quite doubtful that you have the taste or sophistication to appreciate an ale of this quality and depth.

Bold hoppiness with a semi dry finish. I know I’ve had it before, but am surprised I haven’t rated it before.

Aggressive beer this is indeed! Nice mahogany colour but that’s all that’s going for it, extremely heavy mouthfeel, rough tastes of pine, sour grapefruit and hops as strong as turpentine. Couldn’t finish it.

kran w Javeerwocky. miedziano-bursztynowe, ciemne, przejrzyste. z zupelnie nieimponujaca piana. Aromatychlebowe, owocowe (ciemne, swieze), slodko-slodowe (ciut a la barley wine), rodzynkowe, karmelowe. porto, drewno, Bardzo fajne.

Bottle. Can't believe that I have never rated this beer yet. Poured a amber brown color with a generous head. Aroma is great caramel notes, hints of nuts, vanilla hint, and floral citrus hop. Some bread notes blend well with hoppiness. Medium body, slightly chewy. Great head retention. Smooth but a beefy tasty finish. Such a good beer! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark ruby, slightly hazy, medium long-lasting off-white foam; lots of caramel and fruits in aroma; high bitterness, medium sweetness; full body, thick, oily feel, average carbonation, long bitter finish; Overall: Very nice taste and aroma, very "solid" beer, without flaws, considerably good drinkability

Had this once in a bar in Point Loma, in 2001. This time a sample sized glass from tap @ Beer Temple. Nice clear red/dark copper color. Big reddish brownish head, good lacing. Aroma: somewhat vegetal, roasted, along with caramel and fruits retronasal. Flavor is bitter, roasted. Medium bodied. Finish is roasted and firm bitter. Interesting that this is so popular, ’cause it’s certainly not an easy pleaser.

Amber, light copper (EBC 16-18), light opalescent with a fine poring beige head and good lacings. Aromas of orange marmelade, dried fruits like figs and notes of toffee, caramel, herbs and some wood-honey and pine develop. Soft carbonation, smooth, full bodied. Toffee caramel sweetness building a nice harmonic herbal, grassy, pine bitterness. Lasting bit sweet yet dry finish.
