COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is an aggressive beer. You probably won’t like it. It is quite doubtful that you have the taste or sophistication to appreciate an ale of this quality and depth.

1pt 6fl oz @ brauhaus, Edinburgh. Body is hazy rusty deep amber, small particles, head is medium tan rocky, fully lasting excellent lacing. Nose is floral, aroma is woody, grass, hemp, licorice, roasty. Light sweet heavy roasty and hoppy bitter, light sour. Full body, dry texture, soft carbonation. Not too easy, great dessert beer.

DATE TASTED: February 6, 2015... GLASSWARE: HopDevil nonick... OCCASION: Cavs going for thirteen in a row--tying a franchise record?... APPEARANCE: serious dark brown body with steady effervescence; thick as snow, creamy, chunky off-white head that craters and clings... AROMA: instant pineapple and peach erupt; earthier textures blanket the scent with caramel malts and some interesting yeasts... PALATE: a powerful, mouth-awakening grip that tingles the teeth to the ears; creamy, formidable, and crunchy--in other words, a balanced ale...TASTE: as expected, a brutal malt swamp that holds its ground against a hop-laden West Coast citrus pucker--quite agreeable in its arrogance; love the lingering bitterness on the tongue and teeth, even as the strength of the malt dissipates...OVERALL: an American classic that lives up to its hype again and again--attractive, strong, assertive, alcoholic, reasonably priced and available in bombers or sixes; a versatile and instant mood changer, despite the Cavs’ losing...

Solid. There's not much more I can say than what others have said. Recommended. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Another uber bitter ale from Stone. Kind of a dark version of the ruination ale. Has a slight scent of raisins and bourbon. The body is quite bitter and grassy. Bitterness increases even further in the aftertaste and leaves an impression of ash on your tongue. Not really my cup of beer.

There was quite a bit of smoke with this beer. The beer poured a red amber with a thick khaki head that left a lot of lacing. The aroma is strong hops, slight sweet caramel, grass, and citrus. The taste is very bitter as imagined. It has a grassy, almost chewy texture to it. I also pick up some slight alcohol. I also pick up an oak aftertaste.

Not my number one stone brew but it's extremely solid and lives up to their hyper aggressive hop reputation. Delicious, but I can probably just do one.

22 oz bottle, how on earth have i not rated this classic beer yet, for years i just assumed i had- Pours mostly clear ruby red to orange with a thin white head. Aroma is lightly sweet, pronounced bitterness and hops, spicy rye. The taste is similar, with more of both, nice balance between the bitter bite and the big malt, the hops they use here are somewhat harsh, brash, being Stone this is undoubtedly what they were going for though. This is by no means my preferred style, but i can definitely appreciate its complexities.

Smells like caramel and fig, syrupy resin. Aggressive hops backed up by big malt flavors. A one-two Tyson in his prime combo. A stand by me ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tried in a goblet and a craft pint. In the craft pint, taste and smell reminded me of an IPA. In the goblet it was very good. Too hoppy for me. But i really like the mouth feel. Not a favorite but hey at least I tried it.
