LtColCatsup (6), New York, New York, USA does not count Jul 16, 2008 Not much aroma coupled with a dark color. Tasted like every other dark bitter ale I’ve ever had. Nice ABV, but I’d go for the double arrogant to deal with the bitter taste for the buzz. mullet2007 (198), St. Johns, Newfoundland, Canada Jul 15, 2008 Pours a beautiful deep burgundy red to brown colour with a thick, rocky yellowish-tan head. Smells of sweet dark fruits and creamy cirtursy hops. Flavour is fairly intense, very malty and sweet. Fades into some hoppy bitterness. Very full bodied, and creamy. A little sharp on the bitterness, but very nice on the whole. incutrav (576), Woodbury, Minnesota, USA Jul 14, 2008 Figured i better drink this bottle that I have had lying around since December, now that Stone is available a short drive away in Hudson. Little fruity, too sweet. Quite a bit of hop bitterness, not much in the aroma. Not bad overall, but not sure I will pick it up at 6 bucks a bomber. elihapa (1033), Honolulu, California, USA Jul 14, 2008 Bomber bought in Carpenteria, CA, this beer pours a beautiful dark amber-brown with a well-formed tan head. Very attractive when sitting in the glass! Aroma of caramel malt, citrus, grape, and wood. Initial palate features bitterness, followed by a sweetish blend of Muscat grape, soft caramel, and gummy bear flavor. Finishes bitter again of aggressive hops, some plum, and a hint of warming alcohol. This is really something special, very well rounded. ndfreak77 (76), USA Jul 13, 2008 Poured from a tap a reddish color. This brew really packed a punch. The aroma is much sweeter than the taste which is a little bitter, but not overdone. Overall a pretty decent beer. tuohyam (14), Enumclaw, Washington, USA Jul 13, 2008 One of the best. Great slightly fruity flavor for an ale. It also hits you hard. HopheadHans (753), Bay Area, California, USA Jul 13, 2008 Tap. Pours with a coper color and a smallish head. Kind of like an IPA. Flavors are a mixture of grapefruit and caramel, where hops and malts balance each other. Could be a good session beer, but the alcohol content, while not noticeable is too high for that. BiddleBrau (303), Midland Park, New Jersey, USA Jul 13, 2008 Reddish/amber with a very thick white head. This is a big bastard of a beer. Malt makes a statement but the hops have the final say. Very well balanced. Thank you sir, may I have another?
