I have had this beer many times and it was one of the first "big" beers I ever had.It is a dark ruby red color with a generous fluffy tan head. This is a good looking beer that borders between a n Amber and a Brown ale in color. The smell is hoppy and malty at the same time. The taste is like a battle between citrus hops and caramel tasting malt flavors. This is very good stuff fresh but if you get a bottle out of date you will not get the full experience on this one; the hops really fade. Too bad Stone can’t produce this in six packs at a reasonable price.

Aroma was fruity and the flavors of citrus, raisins, and wood. Long lasting aftertaste on the palate. johndoughty (2157), cheslyn hay, West Midlands, England

Problem here is the nose is so darn inviting, I can’t wait for the head to fade! Nose is the freshest citrus, grapefruit, piney hops and slight malt. Flavor is the most uniquely excellent blend of fresh, fruity, floral hops and a perfect touch of malt backing. I would call this something more like a Dark Malt DIPA! SO fruity and citrusy and inviting...it is hard to keep in the glass!!! Also hard to believe you have to be an Arrogant Bastard to like this stuff, though I will not excuse a UM alum who doesn’t!!!

I’ve had it over 50 times and never took the time to rate it. NIce brown pour with a medium off white head to it. Nice nutty caramely smell that is also present in the taste nice syrupy feel to it. It’s like a thick brown ale real nice. There, I did it. budallpro (18), , Missouri, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 24, 2009 Big bottle served at a comfortable drinking temperature. Nice, lasting off-white head over a mahogany coloured body, with only a slight haze. Aroma of dry malts and dark fruits. Complex taste profile that starts malty and develops into a blend of berries and pine hoppiness. Bitter ending with hints of yeast. Alcohol taste was mild. Very good beer. quierocerveza (18), New Jersey, USA
