This is an aggressive beer. You probably wonít like it. It is quite doubtful that you have the taste or sophistication to appreciate an ale of this quality and depth.

Looks great dark bronze with bubbily tan head. Strong atoma of noble hops and caramel malts. Strong bitter flavor like a pils on steroids. Heavy brew but mostly just the dry hearty bitterness and not much else. I prefer the barrel aged versions which are more complex and woody. Long dry bitter palate. A San Marcos classic for sure, but after all these years I discovered this kind of deep pine hxc bitterness (not sure what type of hops it is) isnít really my fav, but still a nice bold beer.

Pours a deep amber with a modest creamy head. Malty aroma with caramel, citrus and pine needles. Full body, oily feel, average carbonation. Taste kicks off with lots of bitterness from grapefruit, coffee, roasted malt and some marzipan. Loooong and hoppy finish.

Deep ruby red color. Medium carbonation. Malt dominated aroma with some caramel, light chocolate, and some piney hop smells. Nice balance of flavor. Deep and malty, chocolatey, with some sharp citrus hop notes to cut through. Good beer.

Aroma; brown malts, milky hops (?), fermented milk chocolate or something, dough - hmm, very special. Look; brown, beige resistant head. Taste; hops, roasted malts, dark caramel, black chocolate, solid portion bitter fruits - leading to a solid hoppy finish with black bitter chocolate. Feel; ok, solid, straight to it. Overall; yes, itís a strong ale. [50cl.can 7.2% BB.06MAR17, brewed in D, Stone Brewing Berlin &german barcode]

heavy cloying sweetness, very bitter, full body, This was just a quick grab for me at the store and I guess Iím really not worthy. For me, Itís like a shot of expensive liquor: you can tell itís really good but it wasnít enjoyable. lol The aftertaste was great though!

This is an epic brew. Outstanding malty bitterness with a superb dominating aroma. A solid head and an excellent mouthfeel. Like almost an IPA with a serious maltiness to it, hmm, maybe more the ale than the IPA, hard to quite work out which dominates. Excellent ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

German version. Deep copper, medium lasting beige head. Aroma if caramel, grapefruits, slightly piney. Flavours of caramel, strong bitter backones that comes right away. Grapefruites, other citrus, piney. Long verry bitter bone dry finish. Quite pungent. I would have like a hoppier nose. It's a 3 month old can always kept in a fridge so the aroma might be weaker. It probably was crazy in 1997, kinda feel outdated. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Very inviting with its dark red amber color and the tan creamy head. The aroma is full of sweet malts and dried red berries, not hoppy as expected. Way better and rich in the nose than in mouth though. Well balanced and drinkable, the bitter is strong but not too aggressive or overpowering.
