Sometimes i have it, its pretty good (tap and fresh bottles). If you get an old bottle like most of them here in so. NM, then forget it. I dont like Chinnok Hops, which is what is used here. The hop profile here is oily, piney, resiny and really damn dry. A good malt backbone i must say. I lowered the score a few points. I guess my palate is becoming more discriminating!
RERATE-22oz bottle-Damn, now i know what everybody is talking about in this one. this beer is the most balanced beer by far from the stone line. perfect marriage of hops and malts. Im so glad this is available in New Mexico(im moving there in a month for graduate school)

The RAF guide said this was stored in an oak barrel, which may have given this brew a different taste than what i was expecting. Also, i sampled this brew right after the 3F’s Behemoth, which may have mangled my palate for this sample. Needless to say, what i sampled was very toned down from what i was expecting, but still very good

Aroma is hoppy, with piney notesm, wood, bourbon and smoke. Taste is astringent, again hoppy, citrusy and aggresive indeed. Tackles your palate right off the bat. I think if I would have had more then one pint of this I would have had trouble riding my bike home. MilkmanDan (1940), Eagan, Minnesota, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Sep 1, 2005 Bottle. Now this is beer. Pours a lovely red-orange-brown with a good off-white head. Aroma of hops and... canned pears? The palate is smooth--the flavor is anything but. Crap loads of hops, start to finish. In the distance behind the hops hide some tasteful fruity notes. Damned good brew, but definitely not for the faint of tongue. MrRomero (1934), Nolanville, Texas, USA

Rerate: seemed a lot more dry than it used to be and somehwat disappointing. StewardofGondor (1934), Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | May 23, 2005 Nice brown / reddish tinge with a graying head that’s bubbly and foamy. Aroma is pineapple, mango, melon and grapefruit sprinkled with sugar. Wafts of amaretto, greasy potato chips and bubble gum also surface from time to time. Okay, let’s party. Hops and grapefruit flavors come out swinging. Honey suckle and rose. Damn this is tasty. Hops infusion is a welcomed intrusion. Dry scratchiness, like sandpaper on the palate. More malt presence than Ruination, adding some maple and honey sweetening for a solid malt backbone. Finish is rum raison and rose herbal tea. Yeah! Good f*cking beer. Thanks, tpkenned! Aroma is grapefruity and spicy hops galore. Medium bodied. Still the staple for the style, but I can never get into Stone’s house character or well... hop/mallt choice either. While more ’boring’ than the double bastard, I find this less offensive. It’s not bad, but I have really grown to dislike the stone beers.
