This is an aggressive beer. You probably wonít like it. It is quite doubtful that you have the taste or sophistication to appreciate an ale of this quality and depth.

I am a huge fan of this brew. I like that it is bold and has a huge taste. I was surprised at myself for being such a fan of the hops. What I like most about this beer is the nice linger it leaves on your tongue.

Aroma: Hops. Alfalfa-grassy, grapefruit-citric, and rose-floral hops. An undercurrent of caramel malts comes through, but you have to really sniff for it. This has a a lot of what Iíd describe as "va-voom." A very alluring nose. Appearance: Dark, bold, clear, rusty orange-red with magenta highlights and puffy parchment-colored head with great retention. Flavor: Much more malty than the smell (but still predominantly hoppy); a well-balanced ale. The hops are mostly grapefruit pith with a grassy character. Finish could be a bit cleaner, but on the whole, this is one yummy beer. Palate: The beerís finish is ultimately crisp, dry, and hoppy, but it starts off strangely sticky and cloying. Other than that, no complaints. Smooth mouthfeel. Overall: I should have bought the six-pack instead of just the bomber.

A definite "gateway" beer for me. Was the first beer I ever had with that beautiful hop bouquet. Striking grapefruit rind, pine, and lighter citrus elements. Quite different from alot of IPAs in that there is a strong malt presence, and I guess it’s really an American Strong Ale, well i differs there again in the strong hop presence. A great balance either way, to be sure. Weird rant on the back of the bottle.

Iím doing this one from memory, since I just realized I have not reviewed this awesome beer. It pours amber with a lot of foam, forward aromas of malt and toast. First taste is powerful, like a kick in the mouth, this is not a floral IPA, but a bitter, balanced beer that should not be permitted to warm. I have discovered that beers like this are much better tasted in an insulated glass like a YETI, where it will be kept cold till the end. This is one of my favourite beers.

UPDATED: MAY 29, 2010 Bought the 22 oz. bottle on the strength of the gargoyle and the name. "Arrogant Bastard" is incredibly apt.

Dark red with a big, creamy head. Hoppy and citrus aroma, with some maltiness. Big and malty with a bitter finish that fades slowly.
