5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
This is my favorite beer right now, ever since I tried it a few years ago. Unfortunately, I can’t always afford to buy it, but when I do it’s always heavenly. I am so impressed by everything about this Ale I would never let my fridge run out of it if possible.

Another uber bitter ale from Stone. Kind of a dark version of the ruination ale. Has a slight scent of raisins and bourbon. The body is quite bitter and grassy. Bitterness increases even further in the aftertaste and leaves an impression of ash on your tongue. Not really my cup of beer.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
There was quite a bit of smoke with this beer. The beer poured a red amber with a thick khaki head that left a lot of lacing. The aroma is strong hops, slight sweet caramel, grass, and citrus. The taste is very bitter as imagined. It has a grassy, almost chewy texture to it. I also pick up some slight alcohol. I also pick up an oak aftertaste.

Not my number one stone brew but it's extremely solid and lives up to their hyper aggressive hop reputation. Delicious, but I can probably just do one.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22 oz bottle, how on earth have i not rated this classic beer yet, for years i just assumed i had- Pours mostly clear ruby red to orange with a thin white head. Aroma is lightly sweet, pronounced bitterness and hops, spicy rye. The taste is similar, with more of both, nice balance between the bitter bite and the big malt, the hops they use here are somewhat harsh, brash, being Stone this is undoubtedly what they were going for though. This is by no means my preferred style, but i can definitely appreciate its complexities.

4.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Smells like caramel and fig, syrupy resin. Aggressive hops backed up by big malt flavors. A one-two Tyson in his prime combo. A stand by me

3.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Tried in a goblet and a craft pint. In the craft pint, taste and smell reminded me of an IPA. In the goblet it was very good. Too hoppy for me. But i really like the mouth feel. Not a favorite but hey at least I tried it.

Bottle at home. Pours dark red with a fluffy beige head. Aromas of caramel, red fruits, resin. Medium strong bitter, medium sweet. Medium-heavy body.

1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Poured from a bomber into a tulip on 08.21.14.
A: Sour. Malt sweetness as a base. Caramel is there too.
A: 2 finger off-white/yellow head. Nearly opaque red body.
T: Sourness dominates. Bitter hops and metal are more subtle.
P: I didn’t care enough to notice.
O: Sourness is first, then sweet malt, bitterness, and a fade into sweetness. It was complex and weird. It had a lingering annoyingly sharp bitterness along with a flavor of metal. This was not for me. Drain pour.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Poured from a 22oz bottle into a snifter. A - Smells floral, a little fruity, quite bitter, and just a hair boozy. A - Deep reddish brown hue. Fairly hazy with a small lightly tanned head. T - floral and fruity up front. Bit of caramel sweetness rushes in at the middle of the sip. More floral notes appear on the bitter finish. P - Medium bodied and lightly carbonated. Beer has very intense aromas and flavors. I feel the medium body and smoothness help balance those elements. O - Beer is so assertive in it’s flavors, but very well-balanced. Creates a great drinking experience. And the beer gets even tastier as it warms up!

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Smell light & fresh with a fruity sweet taste to start with but this only lulls you into a false sense of security about what is to come as you get clotheslined by bitterness. To say this beer is aggressively hopped would be a massive understatement as your mouth gets scoured. An excellent beer that lives up to its name. Not for the faint mouthed!
