4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
I've only recently been introduced to The Stone Brewing Company. That said, from the very first sip I knew I was not a typical brew. It wasn't even a typical craft brew. My initial response to a Stone Brewing Company product was "Wow, I think this might be the best beer I've ever tasted!". That was the Stone IPA. This is my first try of Arrogant Bastard Ale and after my taste buds stopped screaming "Uncle!", my response was "Ahh, Seven Hells, that's good!!". The first thing that caught my attention was smell. I knew then that Fate, that sultry mistress with the warm hand and sensible footwear had pushed us together and I was truly in for a treat. The rich head on this beer is the equivalent of a steak dinner at the Buckhorn Exchange. Once the beer hits your tongue it's like a cacophony of flavors. It takes your mind a few seconds to catch up with it. This beer is almost too good.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Fermentoren Aarhus. Pours a rather dark reddish amber with a small, off white head. Aroma has lots of grassy hops, malty caramel, and lots of malt in general. Taste is pretty sweet, but is more than just balanced by a whole lot of bitter hops. Very oldschool.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
I’m doing this one from memory, since I just realized I have not reviewed this awesome beer. It pours amber with a lot of foam, forward aromas of malt and toast. First taste is powerful, like a kick in the mouth, this is not a floral IPA, but a bitter, balanced beer that should not be permitted to warm. I have discovered that beers like this are much better tasted in an insulated glass like a YETI, where it will be kept cold till the end. This is one of my favourite beers.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Tap at Jopen proeflokaal Amsterdam. Clear dark brown with big fluffy caramel colored head, looks nice. Sweat, onion, lots of spices, dusty, caramel and toffee, grassy and lime, light bitter vegetables. Medium sweet and bitter. Over medium bodied with slick feel. Something went wrong here I guess, this is not very good and smells really bad. But according to the bartender this is how it’s supposed to be...

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sampled from tap at ’Craft & Draft’ (Stone Berlin). Clear, dark brownish red with a tan head. Sweetish-malty aroma of caramel, raisins, red berries, some pine and molasses. Sweetish-malty taste of caramel, raisins, prunes, red berries, some pine and molasses, followed by a short, slightly resiny-bitter finish. Medium to full body, creamy to oily mouthfeel, soft to average carbonation. Quite nice!
