This is an aggressive beer. You probably won’t like it. It is quite doubtful that you have the taste or sophistication to appreciate an ale of this quality and depth.

The nose on this is...shockingly weak, given how strong everything else in it is. It has a slightly toasted bread smell hinting at some darker malts. Hops seem to be of american high alpha variety, good citrus/fruit smells. Leaves good head disspates a bit quickly, and medium lacing. Tastes heavily bitter with a bit of malty sweetness, good strong biscuit taste.

22oz bottle pours a reddy brown color with some beige head. Full malty flavor and some medium hop bitterness that stays in the background to the malt. A little spicy.

Drucken på fat på bishop. Tung och söt med mycket karamell och citrusmarmelad och rejäl citrusbeska. Lite spretig och inte jättepigg humle. Gjorde mig faktiskt lite besviken utan att på något sätt vara dålig.

This beer is no joke. Nice brown pour with a bit of haze that goes into a creamy head. Aroma hits hard with hops and caramel touches. Taste is bitter, rich, hard. It intensifies as it rests on the palate, too, which is rad. This is one beer that lives up to its billing. Love it.

650ml brown bottle. Coppery brown pour with a small tan cap and lots of lacing. Nose has some toffee and pine.Taste has caramel, chocolate, piney hops. Nice finishing bitterness. Piney and citrusy aftertaste with some maltiness. Nice mouthfeel and decent drinkability for it’s strength. A solid brew, waited over 10 years to try this.

i like big beers, and Stone is arguably my favorite brewer, but this one is an ever so slight miss for me, if only by Stone’s lofty standards. the culmination of the parts come out as a touch harsh to my tastebuds. Try the double bastard or the oaked AB, which are both excellent, but this is still some pretty good stuff...just not AS good "

Flaska från Systembolaget. Klar mörk kopparfärgad vätska med stort fluffigt skum. Doftar karamell och kåda. Kraftig maltig smak, tjära, kåda, lakrits, maskrosbeska. Lite annorlunda men bra

Fat på Bishop Gustav. Skum öl. Smak och doft av choklad, torkad frukt, hostmedicin, halstabletter, grapefrukt, citrus och maskrosstjälk. Lagom sötma, spretiga smaker med långvarig beska.

That’s really an aggressive beer as it’s written in its own label, right? So, if you are going to drink it, you’ll need to be prepared to the experience. As a big fan of the Belgian beers, I have to admit that Americans have created a new horizon whenever they’ve started to overload their beer casks with hops. This is so far, the bitterer beer I’ve ever tasted and I’ve loved it. I really wish I could find something like this in Switzerland and I really regret that I didn’t bring another bottle . with me... :( Despite of the advertisement in its cork, in the end, I think myself as a "worthy one" to drink it... That’s very good stuff! I strongly recommend it to the strong ones. ;) A: Pours a deep amber a little bit hazy color. Head is beige and creamy. Medium retention and many lacings left S: Smells like an authentic American IPA. I mean, caramel malts and piny hops T: Great caramel malts and piny, citrus hoppy bitterness. Huge bitterness M: Medium molasses body. Good carbonation O: Absolutely refreshing, tasty, delicious beer [ BA Review @ 11/7/2009 ]
