This is an aggressive beer. You probably wonít like it. It is quite doubtful that you have the taste or sophistication to appreciate an ale of this quality and depth.

From the bottle; pours brown with a quickly disappearing head. Smells of citrus grapefruit but also roasty; malty. Good flavor - some caramel, some grapefruit, maybe some rasins as the beer warms up, well balanced as you can taste both maltiness and hops but neither one is overbearing. A little sticky in the mouth. The hops do linger on the aftertaste but not long. All around good beer.

Bomber. Poured a beautiful garnett with a large frothy, off-white (almost yellowish) head with excellent lacing, fully lasting. Aroma of pine, grapefruit, freshly cut papaya, honeydew, bread, some yeast. Moderately sweet and bitter in the fore with a rich toffee sweetness, moderate to heavily bitter in the end with an extra long bitter finish, somewat metallic, lightly astringent. Slightly oily, medium dryness in the finish, medium bodied, moderate to strong carbonation. This beer looked great in the glass and smelled good too, but for all the hooplah I was expecting something better.

22oz bottle pours nice and clear amber with a slightly off white head. Nice citrus/grapefruit aroma. Very big bitterness upfront that just gets bigger as it warms. Grapefruit hop taste that is pleasant, but a bit overpowering. Overall a good strong ale that wouldnít mind a little age.

22 oz. bottle. I was just looking over my list and I canít believe I havenít rated this one yet. Iíve probably got at least a dozen empties in my garage. Oh well, here goes...Pours a dark amber with a moderate long-lasting head with nice lacing. Very nice aroma of malt and grapefruit. STrong hops presence in the flavor (a bit over the top for me, but perfect for a hop-head). Bitter finish. Good stuff!

A great beer no doubt. It has plenty of flavor to satisfy you. A very aggressive beer that I only like one or two of. Very hoppy for style. I believe it is a little unbalanced. I think due to the alcohol difference, the double bastard is better balance.

Pours a ruddy copper with a full and soapy-white head that laces all the way down the glass. There is one word to describe this beer, as to my tastes of it: grapefruit. The nose is heavily citrus hop, predominately grapefruit with hints of pine. The taste is obviously strongly hoppy - detectable once again through a huge grapefruit explosion. But, wait, is that malt I sense? Yes! - there is some malt lurking somewhere here - perhaps caramel but Iím not positive - adding some semblance of balance to a beer that probably didnít even need any. Bitterness is off-the-charts and stays with you.

UPDATED: DEC 3, 2007 Bomber. Pours hazy, caramel red. Head is reddish. Tons of malt up front, hops even a little earthiness in this one. Creamy, good body. Stone uses a ton of hops in their beers, and I love it! True masters.

Great solid brew that looks very good, and also nice head. The taste is also very pleasing but I liked it better when it was ice cold then drinking it slowlyto let some of the flavors come out more.

What this beer lacks in finesse, it partly makes up for in power. Strong hop bitterness is offset by some maltiness, but it is not very sweet. Not bad.

Iíve always wanted to try this and thanks to Ross my wish has come to true. Poured into my Chimay glass it almost looks like a fine trappist ale with itís rich dark amber color and off-white creamy head. The aroma is of earthy resinous hops and a big abundance of caramel malt. What the aroma lacks the taste brings. This is quite the complex lilí bastard that I behold in my glass. The taste is of earthy hops, caramel malt and in the finish notes of dark fruit and a bit of candied sugar visit this bastard. The carbonation is moderate and allows for a creamy easy drinking brew. Slightly dry in the finish with an alcohol warmth as the beer comes to temperature.
