This is an aggressive beer. You probably wonít like it. It is quite doubtful that you have the taste or sophistication to appreciate an ale of this quality and depth.

Bottle 750 ml. Dark amber with a rocky head. Tiny bubbles. Aroma is resin with a small touch of citrus and caramel. Taste is caramel, malty, herbs. Not too bitter, well balance. Good, better than the oak age version.

UPDATED: OCT 9, 2012 Bottle. Dark reddish amber with a large beige head. Aroma has pine and grapefruit with nectarines, passionfruit and caramel. Assertive bitterness with some stone fruit, caramel and chocolate mostly obscured behind it. Bitter but not dry finish with some surprisingly raw alcohol for 7ish%. Lovely fresh hop aroma, but after that itís mainly loud - although itís not overflavoured, itís as though everything is trying to be louder than everything else. Itís not the phaal of beers I thought it might be but neither is it the crude rambunctious charmer I hoped it might be. OK, if a little irritating in an adolescent sort of a way. [3.4]

Havenít come around on this at all - Looks good, smells good but is all presence in the mouth.

Deep chestnut brown with amber tinges. Aroma is grapefruit, fig, and pine. Taste is dominated by American Cascade hops. A little bit of sweet malt, and then pure IBUís. Extra long dry finish, but also straight forward. I am a certified hop head, and this is a good beer, but it lacks that lively hop complexity that I love in IPAís and strong ales from the Pacific Northwest. The hops just kind of hit your palate, hang out for a minute, then leave. They donít dance on your tongue like Stone IPA. Oh yeah, let this one warm up to at least 50 - 55 degrees, it really opens up when it is a little warmer.

On tap at Adamís Ribs in Chester. Dark opaque amber pour with medium head. Definitely a lot of flavor. Solid hop characteristic. I donít like overly hoppy beers, but this one is well balanced. Strong flavors, but very good. Not something you could drink all day though.

Reddish orange with a creamy orange colored head. Floral hops, sugary and kind of a bitter peach on the aroma. Balanced moderate sweetness and bitterness. Foamy, medium body.

UPDATED: SEP 8, 2011 The appearance is great; this is the kind of beer that screams "drink me," whether you feel like sipping or otherwise. The aroma is tantalizing, with fresh hops and some slight, roasted sweetness. The taste is not as mellow and complex as the aroma; it is mostly piney and bitter, with less of a roasted-malt backbone than I had imagined. It is still good and full, but based on the aroma I was expecting a lot more. The aftertaste overstays its welcome and is, unfortunately, a bit unidimensional. Great, assertive beer, no doubt, but not one of my favorites.

Dark pour with off white head. Aroma of malts, hops and wood. Taste is quite hoppy up front with roasted malts and a nutty taste in the background. A little overrated I think but still a good beer.

GTAEgeek (1142) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - OCT 8, 2011
On tap at Mellow Mushroom. Pours dark brown with a medium, rocky, off-white head and thorough lacing. The aroma is caramel, roasted malts, and earthy and resin hops. The flavor is strong sweetness and bitterness throughout, with neither outweighing the other. The palate is very heavy, chewy and sticky. The aftertaste is strong and bitter, and will not go away. Overall, this is a heavy, strong, and incredibly flavorful beer. If you are looking for something delicate and subtle, youíve picked the wrong beer.
