Wonderfully complex aroma of thistle, pineapple, and maple syrup. Opaque ochre colored with a thick orange head, nice glass coating. Moderately strong flavor with hops dominating. Light smoke, citrus, and syrup notes are also present on the edges. Finish is hoppy and doughy, and a little bitter, but tastefully so. Great flavor and complexity. Not too heavy.

does not count  Aug 21, 2008 Bottle from Andonico’s Market. Aroma is not overbearing, but hops and citrus are incredibly inviting. Pours beautiful deep red with nice lacing and frothy head. Full syrupy body and medium carbonation fill the palate, followed by an impressively well-balanced and loud symphony of hops, bread, nuts, and a hint of chocolate. Alcohol hides in the background. Finish is long and detailed, with lingering hops and bitter grain. This is an impressive and thoroughly enjoyable beer. It’s also complex and rather unpredictable so every drink is satisfying. I found one place with this on tap, and I’ll certainly be going.

Aug 20, 2008 Aromas of floral citrus hops and a clean solvent like burn. Fruits include raspberry, plum, apricot, pineapple and pear. Malt is in the background.
Sweet and woody flavor, with fruits hitting up front. Good hops dose straightens it out in the mid. Mildly bitter bisquit and chocolate finish. Some nuttiness, kind of reminds me of a brown.
Syrupy texture, astringent mouthfeel. Fairly heavy, zesty palate with white wine bite.

Aug 20, 2008 When I read "you probably won’t like it" I knew I was in for something, but something this good, didn’t even cross my mind. What a HUGE ale. Get some!

Aug 19, 2008 Amber to red in colored with a nice tan head. Smell is strong in hops with some pine and fruit notes coming through. Taste has medium bitterness rounded out by some malts and a little fruit.
