dankman38 (217), Somewhere in, Ohio, USA Aug 8, 2007 Updated: Oct 9, 2007 Can we say bitter? Yes we can! This beer is unique in the way that the bitterness is sooooo tasty with that tiny hint of sweet and sour. You can almost smell and taste it before you even open the bottle. This is the first beer I tried from this brewer but it will not be the last.
BigBen2120 (558), Gardiner(52 miles from Allagash), Maine, USA Sep 6, 2008 22oz bomber from a liquor store in Nashua, NH. Pours a hazy copper-red body with a good half-inch of off-white head. Smells amazing, juicy, citrusy, piney hops at the forefront with malt in the background. Tastes citrusy and piney with a fair bit of caramel and toffee malt to back it up. On the lighter side of moderate carbonation with a body bordering on viscous, slick. A plethora of pleasant tastes all balanced perfectly. Rich slick mouthfeel. Alcohol is hardly detectable until you start to feel the warmth. What a magnificent beer. Glad I’ll be able to get this a bit more often. SoberCajun (14), Somerville, Massachusetts, USA Sep 6, 2008 Pours dark brown with a nice tan head. Caramel apple aroma, smells really juicy. Flavors of caramel and citrus around the hops. Smooth body, bitter finish. A nice all-around ale with a bit of aggression but not too over-powering. rds (93), USA Sep 6, 2008 Amber brew topped by a tan head, this ale left me wondering the buzz is about. No citric, yes to the caramel and malt, but a bit too bitter for me. SoCaliente (3), Thousand Oaks, California, USA does not count Sep 6, 2008 Don’t let the name fool you. Nothing is arrogant or by-blow with this choice nectar.
This deep auburn colored ale lures you in much like that athletic tomboy girl next door clad in her hoodie. And the stripped down head reminds you of how you’d like to get her.
Once you raise the glass close to your face, your nose grabs onto her malty bread dough sweetness.
She baits you with her sweet-as-breath flavor and then hooks you with a light bitterness, like a good wry Scottish wit leaves you slaked.
As she enters your mouth, her creamy thick
full body brings you to seventh heaven, wanting her kiss to last and last. And she delivers with her long finish.
This is one authentic Strong American Ale who you can fall in love with each time you date her.
NomDeBeer (150), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Sep 5, 2008 Aroma is mostly citrus hops. Mahogony color with a small but lasting white head. Taste is caramel and citrus hops, smooth bitter finish. Soft mouthfeel that is very smooth. After taste is great; long and bread-like.
