Dover Beer Fest 2007. A strong old fashioned premium bitter with lashings of English hops. A Chris_o type of beer.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 DJMonarch (9152) - Northwich, Cheshire, ENGLAND - APR 27, 2011
Cask Handpump at the Penny Black JDW, Northwich 21/12/2010 (ABV 5.0%)
Some malt aroma. White head. Copper golden coloured and a little fruity with a slighty dry and bitter nutty finish.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 meerbier (907) - Pijnacker, NETHERLANDS - JAN 2, 2011
Cask@ShakespearsHeadLondon. Light sourish aroma with a hint of toffee. Amber colour, beige head, good lace. Sweet, caramel, toffee, light malty, herbal hops, nice bitterness. Light sticky and dusty dry in the finish.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Leighton (4091) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 20, 2010
Cask at the Pommelers Rest, JDW. Mostly clear, amber-gold pour with an off-white head. Foamy. Bread, some lightly toasted, burned edges, soft caramel aroma. Odd flavor, with heavy, heavy metals, such that I am about drinking this. Also some light plastic, faint earth, bread. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Metal metal metal to finish, with mild malts. What the hell? Metal subsides a bit as the beer warms but just barely. Something must be off here. At least, I hope so.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 madmitch76 (6092) - , Essex, ENGLAND - DEC 12, 2010
10th December 2010 On tap at the Goodmans Fields spoons. 5.0% version. Bright clear amber brown beer with a creamy off white head - it’s an attractive pint! Smooth semi dry palate. Fresh smooth malt, a little creamy. Sweetish beer, well intergrated smooth and semi dry orange. Dry malty finish. Just a very pleasant well joined up sweetish Crimbo ale that I could have happily drunk all afternoon as could everyone I was with.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 hughie (3992) - Bedford, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - NOV 23, 2010
Cask at Bankers Draft (JDW), Bedford. A fraction too warm. Bright amber with a small white head. Sweet aroma of overcooked silage. Taste is interesting rather than attractive, sweet, malty and rounded, with some bitterness, and that composty, rotting hay flavour, redolent of rusty farmyards full of black plastic sheeting and old motor tyres, in a damp, flat, depressing English Midlands landscape. Probably Northants. Quite surprised at my scores.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Doppelganger (1383) - Dry County, Arkansas, USA - FEB 19, 2007
Gravity, Dover BF. Dark copper with an off-white layer of coarse bubbles. Warm fruity honey sweetness, cinnamon and marmalade. Lots for fruit in the flavor as well--seems like a blending of ester and hop contribution. Rather sweet, but finishes fairly dry, and combined with a touch of astringency, manages to stay refreshing.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 harrisoni (10067) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - FEB 5, 2007
Cask gravity at White Cliffs BF 2007. Chestnut colour with lasting bubbly off white head. Grapefruit piney hop aroma. Great open beer. Good aroma, smooth and full in mouth with some raspberry flavoured malt and then more grapefruit hop on finish.
