500ml bottle - Sussex Gold has an immaculate golden colour, with a constant and heavy carbonation giving it a strong fizz. Light white head and ever so smooth, it is one of the lightest, refreshing and easiest to drink Southern ales on the market. Lovely!

Creamy palate, honey and butterscotch, some soap. Dry finish. Not a winner this one.

500ml Bottle. Aroma is very faint and Im getting malted milk biscuits - or shreddies. Appearance is a red tinted gold with a weak head that disappears almost as fast as it appears. The taste is heavily influenced by the smell: it is almost pure biscuit that disipates into a slightly molassis bitterness. The bottle says citrus finish - the only way this beer will ever have a citrus finish would be if a lemon crossed the line holding it during the fruitilympics!

Medium gold with a frothy lasting off-white head. Smells of caramel malt with light citrus hops. Some flowery elements. Medium oily body. Sweet taste of caramel with a limited bitter finish. Some citrus grass in the aftertaste. Very average and nothing much to talk about.

[500ml bottle from Maureen & Dave - cheers!] Dirty dark gold with a large foaming white head and slight to moderate carbonation. Decent rich mouthfeel. Peaches up front, straw throughout, and some lemon in the finish. On the dry side, but little bitterness. A decent bitter that exceeded my expectations.

Pours golden amber. Big white head gives way to thin head after a minute. Nose is honeycomb toffee, bit of dry grass. Taste is sweet biscuity malt, bit of caramel and then dry straw like hops. Finish is dryish and little hop bitterness.

Bottled. Golden as expected with a whitish head. A bit of straw and cardboard amongst the orangey hops in the nose. Decent citrus amd grassy in the mouth amongst a bit of rubber. Would be far better filtered than pasteurised as this no doubt started off a fairly decent beer.
