The dirty-gold appearance is a little different and interesting. Very sweet nose features big caramel, plus hints of apricot and white chocolate. The flavour is quite cloying, quite fruity, and there’s an unusually high alcohol presence considering the 4.2% ABV. Big alcohol swell towards the medium-length finish. Too booze-forward for its strength, and therefore disappointing.

Cask at the White Hart, Stopham Bridge. Dark gold, citrus, peach and malt aroma, rich malty body with a sweet-sour-bitter tang.

Pours golden. Little haziness. Nose is toffee, bit of spice and slight grassiness. Taste is bit spicier than bottle version. Biscuit malt, grassy and hops. Cask has a bit more body than bottle.

Draught at The 3 Graces, Hove - 16/10/10. Golden coloured with a frothy white head. Decent hoppy palate and still refreshing. Some biscuit in the taste somewhere.

6th August 2008. On tap at GBBF. Initially feels like a mature cider with it’s full bodied apple feel. Then morphs in to a normal but hoppy golden beer. A bit different!

Cask conditioned handpump Victory Brighton. A light gold coloured beer with a whitish head and lacing. The aroma has grassy hops and the taste is nice and clean with a decent hop level and good bitterness. Easily quaffed.

Cask at the Eastbourne Beer Festival, 9th Oct 2008. Clear yellow amber with a funky aroma. None of the promised malt or fruit. Light, quaffable palate. Quite hoppy but could be so much better.

Half pint at the Barony Bar in Edinburgh. Pure golden body with a little haze. Glass-lacing. Smell og citrus fruits. The flavour contains elements of grapefruit and lemon, accentuated by hop bitterness to the ending. Satisfying British blond ale [14.11.2008].

Guest at the Dog & Partridge, Didsbury. Hazy gold colour with tight white head. Fruity hop aroma with plenty of malt. Initial hoppiness is soon overpowered by buttery malt. Slightly tart finish. Not unpleasant but rather ordinary.
