COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle & can: Pasteurised.
Ingredients: Dark roasted malt; hops; rice; maize; Asahi’s pure cultured yeast.
Japan’s favourite dark beer. Brewed in Osaka, Asahi Black is made from three different roasted malts. This gives it a rich, nutty flavour and makes it incredibly smooth-drinking. Unlike other, more bitter dark beers and stouts, it’s brewed in a process called bottom fermentation, which gives it a subtle, sweet edge and smooth 5% abv.

Pours dark red chocolate, but with a filtered clearness with no cream. Tiny bubbles, not a lot of head. Smells of chocolate brownies, charred malts, honey, and smokey BBQ ribs. Taste is all dark lager, malty smoke aftertaste. Slightly less than the nose. Overall dry and pleasant, very drinkable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a nearly opaque very dark brown with an even, tan head. Head retention is average. Aroma is comprised of prune liquer and Belgian yeast. Flavor is quite similar to Guiness Extra Stout. Prune and coffee liquers are most prominent. Finish is smooth, but abrupt. Decent beer.
