Asahi Black (Kuronama)

Can. Pours deep brown with a creamy tan head. Aroma is roasted malts, chocolate, and molasses. Body is watery. Flavor of roasted coffee, sweet malt, cocoa, and somewhat smokey. FInish is a little bitter. Definitly want more body in this brew. Not too bad, though.

Bottle. London. Pours like coca-cola. nothing excellent about this beer. just okay.

Thick, creamy tan head. Near-black color with light red/orange highlights. Sweet aroma or roasted malts, cocoa, and lactic acid. Flavors of roasted malts, cocoa, a nice smokiness, and a lactic acid kind of sourness. A bit thin and not as rich as I would have liked, but the beef-jerky-like smokiness of this beer makes it interesting. Not too bad. The best of the Japanese "Kuronama" beers.

A dark brown beer with a thick compact moka head. Lightly sweet chocolate aroma, faint, and dissapointing. In mouth, a rather thin schwarzbeer with dryish malt, metallic notes, not much more to say. 330 mL can from Japn, 1 year old. BB 07-2006.

Canned. Dark brown, very lively head. Aroma of syrupy roasty malt and rice. Sweet and medium bodied with rounded mouthfeel. Rather mild with light notes of licorice. Some interesting flavours, but has a general industrial boldness that takes the edge of it.

(Bottle) Pours a dark brown body with small beige head. Aroma of burnt toast and oats. Flavor of burnt marshmellow and sweet malt.

Ah ynes the brown trumpet, quitye surprosing. great like a ale or stout and smelling nicely of ham, WHAT A PINT, its definet joose and wine of crab cakes. complictaed eating a wee say of gateau.

Bottle, dark cola-like colour with a filmy tan head. A slightly roasted aroma, sweet caramal (like cola again), but with an unfortunate metallic tint. A very bitter and dry palate with a little hoppiness, but no real flavour.
