Commercial Description:
Bottle & can: Pasteurised.
Ingredients: Dark roasted malt; hops; rice; maize; Asahi’s pure cultured yeast.
Japan’s favourite dark beer. Brewed in Osaka, Asahi Black is made from three different roasted malts. This gives it a rich, nutty flavour and makes it incredibly smooth-drinking. Unlike other, more bitter dark beers and stouts, it’s brewed in a process called bottom fermentation, which gives it a subtle, sweet edge and smooth 5% abv.

334ml bottle. Almost black body toppd by a medium off-white head. Roasted malt aroma. Sweet malty character. Smooth and crispated. High level of carbonation (at a sushi bar in Gray’s Inn Road, London 15.09.2006)

Thanks to DenverLogan. The bottle is at least a year old and has very little English on it. Said "Dark brown ale" on the bottle, IIRC. The beer pours to a dark brown body. The aroma is richly dark malts with black patent and sweet chocolate chips. The flavor is sweet dark chocolate, light tart barley and cocoa.

Dark brown body, quickly dissapating tan head. Aroma is a light smoke, with crystal malt, chocolate, and raisen. Taste is a light chocolate and dried fruit with a hint of smoke. Nothing special.

anything that say "BLACK" on the label i like. found this at a dept store in tokyo. dark brown pour with a fluffy mushroom head. nose of nutty roasted malts. flavors continue onto the palate but spill off with a watered down character of the beer. eh?

Nice almost opaque black pour, with a beige froth that leaves no lace, but looks good. Aromas of faint malt, coffee, and mild dark chocolate. Tastes somewhat nutty, dark chocolate, watery coffee. FInishes fast, mildly bitter. I’m not a huge Schwartz fan.

Beautiful black walnut color with hints of red in the light. Lght tan/off white head. Smooth, light flavor with hint of nutty roast. Very light body overall with minimal to no hop flavor. Easy drinker.
