Pours a nice black with a lovely cream colored head. Aroma is chocolate and a tinge of roasted malt. Flavor follows suit with a slightly coppery aftertaste that keeps this from being a great beer. Palate is watery. Not bad, but the aftertaste ruins it. beerguy101 (3878), Newark, California, USA

Medium to large sized white foamy head. Aroma is slightly coffee, roasted malt with a touch of cola. A medium to light bodied schwarzbier. Malts are roasty and slightly cola-ish. It’s a touch thin and watery, which helps accentuate the cola like flavors. The lively carbonation helps with that as well. Very drinkable beer. Mouthfeel is a touch thin. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly sweet. DeepBlack (387), Derby, Derbyshire, England

Very dark redish brown in colour. Thick bubbly head to begin with, which dwindles after a while. Not bad, but not much to it for a 5%er, a bit on the thin side. Slightly dry in the after-taste. Not bad, if I was stuck in Japan with no Real Ale I’d be happy to drink a few of these. papajohn (1055), San Diego (Mira Mesa), California, USA
