COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle & can: Pasteurised.
Ingredients: Dark roasted malt; hops; rice; maize; Asahi’s pure cultured yeast.
Japan’s favourite dark beer. Brewed in Osaka, Asahi Black is made from three different roasted malts. This gives it a rich, nutty flavour and makes it incredibly smooth-drinking. Unlike other, more bitter dark beers and stouts, it’s brewed in a process called bottom fermentation, which gives it a subtle, sweet edge and smooth 5% abv.

334ml bottle from Alko. Poured near black with a thin, but lasting brown head. Aroma has soy sauce, roasted malt and hint of coffee. Flavor is roasty, smooth and has some coffee and cocoa notes. Thin body, dryish finish. Overall quite tasty. Leans more towards Schwarzbier than Dunkel IMO.

Black-brown body, beige head, poor lacing. Aroma; dark malts, roasted malts, sweet black caramel, prune-liquorice. Taste; dark sweet malts, black caramel, chocolate, small coffee notes. Dark chocolate and liquorice notes in finish. Medium body, low carbonation, sweet and slicky. Very easy, not directly exciting. [344ml brown bottle, abv5%, 12.5°, BB02.06.2015, B@Alko, 4€75c, T@höme]

Cola black beer with a brief dark beige head. Mild aroma of dark syrup. Watery body, watery texture, some roastiness but just too thin and bland.

Bottle, 25/10/14, thanks bluus. Pours black with a latte-colored head. Aroma is roasted malts. Taste is along the same lines. Nothing special. Feels more like a schwarz rather than a dunkel or a tmavý.

Bottle. Colour....well....black, with a thick ecru head. Nose...lightly roasty with notes of molasses and dark caramel. Palate...somewhat velvety and rather smooth with hints of roasted malt, cocoa and molasses cookies. The finish is longer than I expected and kind of sweet.

334 ml, bottled. Pours black with a thin, ringed beige head. Aroma: Roasted malt, vanilla. Taste: Medium+ sweet, some bitterness. Woody flavours, roasted grain, rice. Some maize, too. Complex cereal flavours. Palate: Quite light body, thin mouth feel. Not bad. The mild flavours has some deepness. Not bad.
