Bottle & can: Pasteurised.
Ingredients: Dark roasted malt; hops; rice; maize; Asahi’s pure cultured yeast.
Japan’s favourite dark beer. Brewed in Osaka, Asahi Black is made from three different roasted malts. This gives it a rich, nutty flavour and makes it incredibly smooth-drinking. Unlike other, more bitter dark beers and stouts, it’s brewed in a process called bottom fermentation, which gives it a subtle, sweet edge and smooth 5% abv.

Bottle. Thin off white head. Deep brown to Pepsi Cola hue. Poor head retention knocks its app score from a 4 to a 3. Nose is fruit, alcohol, iron, perfume, hops and cigar tobacco, spice. Bittersweet. Good body. Crisp mouthfeel. Dry finish. Good.

Can, from my local Korean grocery store, at Blenheim Rd. Hard to rate a beer that has no flavour at all. I give it a 5 for aroma because it least it nothingness is not off-putting as some pretty bad smells one finds in beers worldwide. With much effort I can taste some caramel malts, coal and ashes. Very watery. Nah...

11.3oz bottle. Pours clear cola. Soda tan, fizzing out foam. Sweet apple nose. Mild soy, Taste is quite sweet with red apple, quite a decent amount of sugar. Dark cherry cola comes to mind. No flaws. Drinkable, but no roast character. More sweet roll and cherry.
