Commercial Description:
Bottle & can: Pasteurised.
Ingredients: Dark roasted malt; hops; rice; maize; Asahi’s pure cultured yeast.
Japan’s favourite dark beer. Brewed in Osaka, Asahi Black is made from three different roasted malts. This gives it a rich, nutty flavour and makes it incredibly smooth-drinking. Unlike other, more bitter dark beers and stouts, it’s brewed in a process called bottom fermentation, which gives it a subtle, sweet edge and smooth 5% abv.

12 oz bottle. Dark black with a thick white head. Nose is a bit malty, cardboardy, somewhat chocolately. Taste is very smooth, malty, chocolately, a bit thin. Overall a decent beer and very easy to drink.

Nice dark pour with a solid taste. Hints of carmel but not much. This beer has a dry finish and that was the only drawback I found.

Bottle. Near black with no head and slight carbonation. Sweet caramel aroma with a touch of roastiness. Flavour was much the same, with some chocolate thrown into the mix and a Camp Coffee finish. Ok.

Can. Pours an amber brown body. Light roasty chocolate notes. Caramel and a faint grassy earthy hoppiness. Chestnuts and diacetyl. Eh not so good.

Bottle. Very faint caramel aroma. Slight caramel and chocolate flavor. Way too fizzy and gassy. Thin too. Nothing finish. Drinkable, but not interesting. A bit better on draught. The label calls it Munich style, which would make it a Dunkel.
