Jan 25, 2009 Gold can from Taiwan. Pours dark brown, clear, and with a lively head. Aroma is mild, with slight roasts. Flavor features brown sugar sweetness contrasted with tasty roasts, buttery nuts, and a hint of mocha. Finishes dry with sweet-ash. Although the palate was predictably thin, I was generally impressed by Asahi’s effort. Or was it the novelty of a black beer from Japan?

Clear light to medium brown color with a average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, burnt, bread, brown sugar. Flavor is moderate sweet and light to moderate bitter with a average to long duration. Body is light to medium, texture is watery, carbonation is soft. (140908)

Oct 8, 2008 EBF2008. It’s a red-brown beer with a creamy head. The aroma has notes of candy sugar, sweetness, malt and light licorice. The flavour has sweetness and notes of candy sugar, light sweet coffee, sweet licorice and caramel. The sweetness is a bit too strong IMO.

Oct 1, 2008 Definitely smooth. Aroma is identical to Guinness stout. Not bitter, and only slightly sweet. A little roasted malt flavor. Could have a stronger flavor.
