mabel (1710), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 14, 2008 Updated: Sep 15, 2008 [1636-20080829] 350mL can. Sweet malt aroma releases more chocolate notes as it warms. Black brown body with a medium-lasting foamy off-white head. More sweet malt in the flavour with some wood and chocolate coffee notes. Medium-full body is a little rough. Surprisingly refreshing and drinkable and pairs well with a sushi silver lunch boat.

Maria (4761), Thisted, Denmark Oct 8, 2008 EBF2008. It’s a red-brown beer with a creamy head. The aroma has notes of candy sugar, sweetness, malt and light licorice. The flavour has sweetness and notes of candy sugar, light sweet coffee, sweet licorice and caramel. The sweetness is a bit too strong IMO. gringo332 (129), Richardson, Texas, USA Oct 1, 2008 Definitely smooth. Aroma is identical to Guinness stout. Not bitter, and only slightly sweet. A little roasted malt flavor. Could have a stronger flavor. Papsoe (11076), Frederiksberg, Denmark Sep 29, 2008 (Bottle 33 cl) Pours a clear warm orangey brown with an off-white head. Aroma of roasted malt and raisins. Medium-bodied with roasted malts, dried fruit and perhaps also overripe fruit. Dry and somewhat sulphurous finish. 140908 cazort (376), Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 27, 2008 (Bottle) Aroma of caramel and slightly roasted malt. Mildly sweet, and mildly bitter. Only very weakly hopped. Carbonation blends well with the overall character of the beer: mild but slightly coarse. Overall, not terribly interesting. gfolivares (62), McAllen, Texas, USA Sep 27, 2008 Pours a deep black/brown with a tan head. Nice appetizing aromas of caramel, cocoa, and dark bread. Light-medium mouthfeel with decent carbonation. Wounderful chocolaty malt taste gives way to sweet doughy finish with hints of dark fruit and coffee flavored toffee. Although the taste is a somewhat light interpretation for a schwarzbier, it is refreshing a easy to drink making it an excellent session beer.
