RIch and heavy, balanced by the sting of a strong alcohol finish. Solid beer, if a bit pricey compared to some of its peers.

Can from Japanese supermarket. Pours slightly more golden than the regular Asahi, large light foam head. Nose is cereal grain, bit of cut grass/hay, metallic can, dryish laager yeast. Taste is cereal grain, lager yeast, alcohol, slight grassiness, sweet malt. Bit more flavour than the regular.

Very drinkable. Deeper stronger taste than most Jap lagers. caramel, malt, hay and the remnants of Super Dry....although the similarity is not apparent., Medium bitterness with a sweet finish. , medium body with a slight treacly mouth feel. Overall at 6% tasty but too strong to session.

Can. Clear yellow golden pour with a finger of head that dissipated quickly. Metal, hop, hay. Light body. Grain finish. Not my favorite

Crisp and refreshing, not an awful lot of flavour but a hint of malt, it’s OK. Best drunk cold.

Pours an intviting clear deep golden, highly carbonated. Aroma has that industrial feel, slightly metalic with malts. Taste is more of the same metalic and i am a little disapointed.

The original dry, a dryer, more neutral version of the already very neutral genre of standard lager, for people who like their beer with as little beer taste as possible. The style seems to have been popular in the nineties in especially Japan and the U.S.. This one has a very light golden colour and snow white, stable head, and the expected neutral character with low maltiness, crisp and clean, grassy, leafy hops in the finish, minerals, with a thin and watery mouthfeel. As inoffensive and boring as possible but I must admit it is a perfect thirst-quencher and I’d rather have this for that particular purpose than another corn-sweetish bad standard lager.

350 ml can bought at YATA in Grand Century Place, Mong Kok.

Golden light amber colour; Half finger head and soapy white foam which fades in 40 seconds; Good sticky lacing and notable carbonation; Quite pungent aroma of malt, with light rice, alcohol, stinky floral, bread, yeast, thin lemon and grass; Light sweet taste of malt, with pretty strong rice, faint molasses, very light alcohol, light bread, strong lemon, bitter hops and grass; Close to light body. Dry and quite slick palate; Mouth feel is Super Dry with more malt. Taste is split evenly between pretty rich malt and clean-tasting rice. Dry and crisp, but that’s also some bits of nagging, add-on brewing alcohol. The Amarillo hops doesn’t contribute much aside from strong lemon taste. No notable off-taste. Okay… Hoppiness is smelly floral in nose, strong lemon and grass in taste. Bitterness is moderate to low for lasting low astringent finish; Dry after taste; Crisp and slightly boozy to mouth.

Comments: This one should have been the refined version of Super Dry, but with mixed result - maltier as well as ricey in taste, pretty smelly floral, and almost non-existing Amarillo hops with only strong lemon and grass taste to show for. Still pretty drinkable, but a definite regression from the Super Dry proper.

A slightly souped up version of the Super Dry. The Big 4 lagers are not bad and much better than Australian/US versions. Clean, Crisp, refreshing.
