COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Strong stout, made in the Irish and British tradition. This huge beer is earthy, tar-like, smoky, whiskyish and very much a winter warmer.

UPDATED: MAR 2, 2006 Pours a black with a little brown head. Nice aromas of roasted malt/chocolate. A little dry in the flavor/finish of coffee/chocolate.

Black. Slight head. Sweet, rich, dark malt aroma with massive depths of plum, raisin, dark chocolate, spices, and plenty of alcohol. The silky body is less complex, sadly, than the aroma. It has chocolate and sweet dark malts, but lacks the fruity density and alcohol kick the aroma told me to expect. It’s drinkable, and overall fairly decent, but lacks the depth and complexity to measure up to the Couragesque aroma. Flavourwise, it’s more on a par with ABC Stout...not the worst thing on Earth but the aroma had me expecting a world classic.

Huge thanks to IslandHaole for this one. This one is world class! Obsidian pour with medium tan head and great lacing. Aromas of big chocoff, oak, cabernet, some tart kriekiness. Tastes roasty malty, with chocoff, some peat mossyness, whisky, and finishing touch of tartness. Medium palate with great complexity. A great beer.

Thanks to IslandHaole! Black pour, a little light seeps through the edges. Aroma is of rosted malts, light coffee. Flavor echoes that, but has a weird bitter hop taste, very dark as well. Strange feel too, overall a very odd stout indeed. Dry finish, lingering aftertaste.

Just found this on my last road trip, finally! An opaque dark brown/black color with a medium brown head. Dark Chocolate and roasted malts in the nose. A thick mouthfeel, bitter-sweet and warming. A touch of floral flavored hops. It is similar to their Black beer but a thicker feel and more complex. Reminds me mostly of the Australian brew, Coopers Best Extra Stout. You have to like Stouts to appreciate this beer! In my opinion, this is Asahi’s best made beer. I do have an extra bottle for trade!

Pretty ordinary.... very rough, nothing much here really. Easily one of the worst stouts I've tasted. Big dissapointment.

Very intense dark color. Coats the mouth with notes of smoke, tar and brandy. Gets hard to drink after awhile
