International lager, the best you can say about this beer is that it is dry, very dry!

I finally had this beer and was actually pleasantly surprised. Clear golden color with foamy white head. Somewhat sweet smell; smells like beer, way better than macro-US lager. Taste is pretty good. A modicum of hops. Nice dry mouthfeel. A little bit of sweetness in there as well. Better than I thought it was going to be.

Elwood (1834) - Between a rock and a hard place, Virginia, USA - OCT 22, 2009
Serving: 330 ml bottle. Appearance: Clear gold color with a foamy, white head. Lesser head retention. Aroma: A little grain and sweet malt notes. Relatively light. Flavor: Sweet malt and cereal notes at first with a slight floral hop bitterness. Simple, but I don’t see any flaws in it. Palate: Medium-high carbonation with a light, dry mouthfeel and a short finish. Overall: I actually think this beer is pretty solid. With a style that shows even the most minor of flaws, I had a hard time finding any and it was pretty refreshing.

33cl bottle poured into a lager glass. Sparkling gold to copper color with two fingers rapidly dissipating off-white head. Aroma is faint sweet malt. Flavor is mostly sweet malt with some hops in the background. Finish is slightly bitter. Boring beer.

Served from bottle. Golden yellow with a sweet aroma. Not much head. Not a reason for moving to Asia...

Pours a pale yellow. Thin body, weak hops and grain flavour. Extremely overrated generic pale lager.

Cans at my aunt and uncle’s place in Tokyo.

Gotta say, after a long tay of traveling this one goes down well. Maybe not a world class lager, but it sure hits the spot right now and does seem to be missing most of the flaws that might mar such a beer. I’m coming in way above the mean here and I think it’s partly the circumstance but hey, hedonic scale and all that.

Pours clear pale straw yellow. Nose of floral hops and grains. Taste is very thin, as name implies, a very dry body, light cereal grain flavors, light floral bop bitterness, no residual sweetness, back end rinses like water.
