A golden colored sake, like a flat lager or even better, a blended whisky with an ice cube melted in it. Thick legs. A very interesting smell, a mix of koji and tomcat urine, really! Some sweetness but mostly a funky litter box. As unappealing as the scent might be to some, the taste is fortunately much different. Mildly sweet and thick, oakey flavor and a strong alcohol presence but not in the throat, more in the nose. More like a fine sipping (yet at “only” 17%, rather mild) whisky. One of the most unusual sakes I’ve had. My first Koshu, but certainly won’t be my last!
