Commercial Description:
Cask & Bottle conditioned; Regular.
Our stout is packed with chocolate and roasted coffee flavours, with a slight sherry like aroma. Further bittered to balance the sweetness of the malts, the beer has a unique hoppy aroma with orange, pine and resin flavours noticeable. The mouth feel of the beer is further enhanced with a silky smooth finish.

Bottle. Black beer with a strongish head. The aroma is deeply roasted, and the flavour is very bitter, roasted and slightly espresso coffee like. Overall a very nice beer.

Bottled. Black coloured. Brown dense head. Explodes out of the bottle. Light roast, light liqourice, herbs, light chocolate in the aroma. Flavour of roast, light sweetness, light cocoa, light spice. Medium bodied. Dry. Roasty chocolaty light bitter end. Thx to Papsoe for providing this.

17th April 2008 Lightly toasted malt. Quite a silky palate but dry. Finishes on a sweet toffee note. No real bitterness.

Cask @ GBBF. Black beer, frothy tan head, and full nose of toffee and licorice. Slightly sourish, roasty, bitter flavor. Quaffable stout with big character... probably the best of several stouts I tried at GBBF.

(Cask at GBBF, London Earl’s Court, 5 Aug 2009) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of black coffee and dark chocolate. Malty, roasted taste with black coffee, cocoa, dark bread and a generous coffee bitterness in the finish. Slightly more than medium body, smooth mouthfeel. Mainly dry. Excellent stout in very nice balance.

Cask/handpump at the Magpie & Crown. Deep black-brown with a creamy beige head. Aroma of coffee and wine. More roasty coffee on the tongue, along with resin and a fruity tartness reminiscent of something like Rodenbach. Sweet finish gives way to a roast and dry bitterness.

Bottled at RBESG 2008. A red-brown beer with a thin tan head. The aroma is sweet with notes of roasted malt. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of herbs, hard roasted malt, leading to a dry and roasted finish.

Handpulled cask at the White Horse Parsons Green. Black with a tan head. Smokey aroma. Burnt roasty flavours with good hop bitterness. Decent.
