Cask (gravity dispense) at Wandsworth Common Beer Festival @ Le Gothique on 25 March 2011. Very dark red. Loose tan head. Looks a bit cloudy like the previous two Ascot beers I tried here but dark enough that it was difficult to be sure. Slightly fruity. Mainly dry with a little roast. Decent drinking. Fruit develops on the finish, married with a pleasant firm dry malt backing. Hints of coffee too. Pretty tasty but, to be honest, I’m not sure how much the sloe brings to the party - it’s a bit tart and imparts a slightly odd tang to the flavour. Overall, no complaints though.

Cask, gravity at The White Horse, Hedgerley, Bucks 16.04.11 Quite delicious full bodied fruity stout. Black in colour with a beige rim of bubbles. Aroma is the one area that it is lacking as it is non-descipt, I get very, very little at all. But flavour more than makes up for any inadaquacies, its fruity, chocolatey loveliness. Gravity cask, Wandsworth fsstival Thin mocha lacing, opaque black, aroma is stunning, espresso, chocolate, coffee. Some grainial elements, taste is cocolate, licorish, berries, cold coffee, nice bitter elements. Good stuff.
