3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Cask gravity at SIBA BF 2011 South East. I must have got a different batch to Chris as my half had both choc and nuts. Milk choc and earthy nuts. Good dryness on finish. Weird to drink it amongst rugby dicks but hey. Decent dark nutty hoppy bitter

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cask (gravity dispense) at Wandswoth Common Beer Festival @ Le Gothique on 25 March 2011. Dark copper colour. Rather murky. Beige head. Didn’t look too great but was quite lively. Rather fruity aroma. Some nutty malt - seemed a little raw. Billed as hazelnut porter. Certainly not a stout-like porter. Not really much like a porter at all. Although I would have mentioned nutty malt (oh, I already did) I can’t say I would have specifically picked up on the hazelnuts. Some bitterness. Quite firm mouthfeel. Didn’t quite hit the spot for me. Clearly hadn’t dropped bright and may have been a bit green. Would re-rate but doubt if I’ll see this again.
