Cask (handpump) at Egham Beer Festival on 23 April 2011. Aged since November 2010 apparently. Extremely dark brown - almost black but there’s just a chink of light gets through. Strong chocolate notes in the aroma. Joined by a lighter bitter coffee on the palate. Also a hint of treacle toffee. Big and quite rich, but with a firm and fairly dry mouthfeel - not an easy balance to draw - making for an impressive drinkability for the strength. Beautifully drawn all round. I was really more intent on drinking (and enjoying) this than analyzing it. Shame it seems to be a one-off.

Nose: Coffee, toffee, demerara sugar, smoke Palate: Black treacle, liquorice, very rich, a touch of old red wine. Finish: Dry and bitter, roast malt, a little cocoa. Extremely good!

Cask handpull at Egham spring festival 2011. Black beer with not much head. Big coffee choc and molasses. Wow that is big and full. Some heat on finish. Thats pretty damn good. Amazing choc and some almost spice. Some chocolate sponge. Best beer so far
