COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Seasonal - Autumn. Also available bottle conditioned. Previously 5.2%.
This has a wonderful biscuity malt character, with a slight sweetness and a smooth mouthfeel. Brewed with German specialty malts and bittered with German hops, this is an authentic version of an Oktoberfest beer.

Cask at Ascot Festival 2010. Pours a good amber colour with a thin white head. The aroma has plenty of fruit and malt with a hint of caramel. The taste is all malt with a good soft dry finish.

Cask at the Southampton Arms, London on 8th October 2011. Clear brown/copper with thin off-white head. Sweet caramel and spice in aroma; some yeastiness. Light bodied liquid, fruity with spices and black pepper. Floral hops tickle back of mouth. Aftertaste is still fruity with berries, sweet fruity and slightly smoky finish. Smooth mouthfeel.

Cask at the Monks Retreat (JDW), Reading. Gold with a loose cream head; aroma of damp grain; grainy flavour with some caramel; then a dry finish with a touch of spicy yeast. Drinkable, but unexciting.

Cask conditioned Handpump Edgar Wallace London An amber beer with a loose white head. The aroma has a little berry fruit and some caramel and bread. The taste is on the sweet side. There are some grass notes initially but this is then overtaken by a good maltiness. It’s a tad thin but it’s OK.

Cask at the market porter. Alround rating: Sweet brown ale malts, old cellar, musty, fruity.

Cask conditioned from the Rose and Crown, Sandhurst. Smooth, low bittered ale with slight floral hop aroma. Nice mouth feel and body, but lacking anything distinctive. Interesting concept from a brewery that is breaking new ground.

UPDATED: APR 29, 2009 Cask (gravity dispense), St Albans Beer Festival, September 2007. Interesting idea. Has the German hops and yeast. Has the bready malt character. Has the touch of sweetness. Presumably not brewed as a lager but, otherwise, has plenty of authentic touches. Quite full mouthfeel. There is perhaps a little more bitterness than the genuine German article. Not bad at all.

Cask@Twickenham Beer Festival. Malts come across slightly sticky and quite bready/doughy. Finish shows some grassyness, with some light toffee-ish notes in the finish. Not too bad, but it lacks something for me.

Cask gravity at St Albans BF 2007. Amber, no head. Bready, biscuity aroma. Well it is a lager, some ok pukey malt settles down to a nutty toffee. Not at all bad.
