3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
ASDA (to my knowledge this is Walmart in Britain) seems to have commissioned this brew at Shepherd Neame (brewer of such legends as ’Spitfire’ or ’Bishop’s Finger’ ...) ... Shepherd Neame do not hide the commissioning which is a good sign ...
the smell is distinctive, with malty, nutty notes dominating ... the taste is nutty too, with hints of green vegetables (leek, spinach) ... a pleasant bitterness makes this a recommended drink ....

2.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
500ml bottle from Asda.
Large frothy off-white head with good lacing. Clear amber body. Nose is light grassy hops, a little spice. Flavour is grass, straw, some grapefruit on the aftertaste. Mouthfeel is ok, medium carbonation, quite crisp. Nothing special but easy enough to drink.

500ml bottle shared with mr_h. Light brown, reasonable head. Flowery resin caramel vanilla aroma. Sharp dry caramel malt flavour. Bitter aftertaste. Big standard supermarket bitter.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
(Bottle): Pours a clear amber, small white head. Aroma of caramel, hops and citrus. Subdued malt flavour with bursts of hops coming through along with slight hints of caramel. It’s not bad, would expect better from Shepherd Neame.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle at the Seiyu supermarket, which, like ASDA, is also part of the Walmart Empire. \298. Floral, citrus hop nose, slight caramel malt, bread, cherries or grapes. Fruity, reasonably nice. Light amber-orange color, tall, fine head. Nice clean maltiness, somewhat sweet, fruity, good bitter finish. Full but not heavy. Enjoyable and well balanced. Great deal for the price of a Japanese major lager.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottled 25/05/13. A proper brown coloured beer - not at all golden - with a white head. Very husky and grainy. A sweetness and a grassy hoppiness in the nose but then it’s grainy malts all the way. Substandard.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Gold, lasting creamy white head and gentle condition. Gentle fruity hop aromas with a touch of toffee sweetness. Quite sweet in the mouth with a hint of caramel and a low dry chalky bitterness, short sweet and slightly chalky finish.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
’Spritzy’ it how I would describe mouthfeel. It improved as it warmed up (served too chilled). Maliness was there - and hops came through.

Really roasted and hoppy taste with an aroma of citrus and zingy lemon. Nice,
