3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
’Spritzy’ it how I would describe mouthfeel. It improved as it warmed up (served too chilled). Maliness was there - and hops came through.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from Seiyu, a month before use-by date. Pours a clear deep bronze, low white head. Gentle floral hop aroma, underlying sweetened malt, honey, toffee. Malty flavour, a little citrus, pretty straightforward. Refreshing bitterness, decent body, dry finish, quite good actually.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from Seiyu supermarket (as "Shepherd Neame Golden Ale"). Rich fruity initial, light raisin, plums, toasted malt, and a rough floral note. Copper/brown color. Light roast malt initial, tangy hop and fruit in mid palate, a touch of citrus, and a mildly bitter finish. Thin-medium body. Golden Ale -- perhaps named w/o reference to that style. Tastes much more like a bitter or an ESB.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Filtered, amber and with a small head. The beer has a typical bread skin and caramel malt base in the aroma and flavor. There are some esters and delicate acidity in the flavor. Aftertaste is short and mostly on the bread and ester side. Nothing more to notice about it.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle from Seiyu. Marked down to 118 yen. Best by date of June this year. Poured into an English tulip pint. Pours a clear amber with a small head that dissipates fairly quickly but leaves a little rim throughout. Aromas of grain, caramel, wet cardboard and slight toasted toffee. Thin body with a watery mouthfeel. Taste is more of the same but a bit spiky on the palate. Finish tastes a little like old tea. Not very nice.

Many thanks to Sean for this bottle! Malzig-süßlich, frisch. Etwas aleig-süßlich, leicht säuerlich. Malzig-nett, aber zu flach.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle 150 yen from Seiyu. 4.5% Deep copper-amber gold with a foamy off-white head and good lacing. The nose is butterscotch and grainy caramel. Scratchy body, a bit metallic/cardboard starting to go off I think, other than that the taste is sweet grainy mildly cloying caramel I associate with British brews hence my statement of Adnam’s Wild Hop being a cut above the average British brew I know. Kind of meh.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
500ml bottle from Walmart, Xiamen. Pours dark golden with a thin white head. For a golden ale this is all malt and toffee aroma. Dry bitter finish. Was surprised to see this in China and it certainly makes a change.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Solid and simple one shared with McTapps. Offering some malt with a touch of caramel and bit flowers in the back. Average stuff between a meal and a big beer.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle from Asda in Eastbourne. The beer pours out in a golden colour with airy head and medium body. Aroma of hops and barley with some hints of straw. Taste of bitter hops, vanilla, caramel, malt, bread and barley. Flowery finish. Drinkable and solid, yet nothing special. Average beer.
