Heritage Ales have taken over the Ash Vine name and recipes. It appears to have been successful because this is a very pleasant and fruity beer indeed. Curiously old labels are still being used so there is no best before date. The day after and I’m still reflecting on my Penguin. Soft, roasty, chocolate and woody flavours, soft yet complex plummy fruit flavours. All deep, smooth and delicious. Rating 8.5 - this is a memorable porter.

Bottle conditioned. Brief chocolate and hop aromas, black-brown body with small white head. Thin chocolatey body with hints of tin and very little aftertaste.
