Brewvival 2015 Trip #31. Keg at the Coxe location. Pours a clear copper with a medium sized frothy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of floral, herbal hops and pale malt. The taste is tropical, citrus, herbal hops, pale malt. Medium bodied, mild lingering bitterness. 9600th rating!

4oz on tap at the brewpub. Clear orange amber color. Thin off-white head. Thicker sheets of lace. Looks good. Smooth, kind of soft, lighter carbonation. Light dry finish, more slick though. Moderate-plus bitter taste, moderate sweet. Smooth, kind of soft, lighter carbonation. Lightly slick. A very nice, hoppier pale ale overall.

Location: Draft at Asheville Pizza and Brewing Company (Merrimon Ave), 1/3/15

Aroma: This one has a mild nose of pale malts, and some light hops
Appearance: Pours a clear orange, with an off white head, and medium-plus lace
Flavor: It has a light hop flavor, is also light sweet, with some spice notes
Palate: It has a fairly light body, and closes with a long, somewhat dry finish
Overall Impression: I thought this was a pretty decent one, but nothing too exciting or memorable.

On tap at brewpub. Amber with white head. Smell is hoppy pine and floral with some fruit and caramel. Taste is caramel malty with fruit and floral hops. Semi dry with low carbonation and low bitterness.

Sampled at the brewpub. It poured an amber/tan color with an off-white head. The aroma was of caramel with some bread and light hops. The taste was similar with a little maltiness in the backend.

Draft to taster at the Coxe Ave brewpub. Looks decent; malty though. A transparent copper with off-white head. Smells malty too; sweet pale malt and some hops. Getting close to cloying on the nose. Tastes like it smells, but not quite as sweet. Average on the palate. Okay.

Comes out of the tap a dark amber with a respectable pale tan head. Malty aroma has a strong hoppy note that pushes it towards an IPA. Flavor is more hoppy than malty, somewhat bitter, rather IPA-ish. Texture is fizzy and smooth, if not firm. 828 is Asheville’s area code - I got your number right here!

Had on tap with a movie at Merrimon location. One of my favorites from these guys. Pours really dark for a pale- almost amber with a thick white head. Taste is on the sweet side at first with a mouthfeel that flirts with too heavy for a pale. Interesting hop profile- tames the sweetness and works well with the darker malts. Enough hops to be interesting but still finishes smooth. Really good.

Tap at he Merrimon location. Copper, frothy beige head. Smells sweet, with some perfumy hops (and a touch of butter) Taste is toasty malts (like maybe oatmeal cookie) and a woody, piney hop finish.

Pours a deep amber brown on tap with thin ring of off-white head that leaves light lace. Aroma is very light hop presence with a caramel bready make overtone. Taste follows, light and unimpressive. Meh, perhaps it’s old, all the hops are gone.
