Sampled at the 13th Annual Knoxville Brewer’s Jam. Copper red with a whitish head. Caramel, sweet aroma. Taste is slight roast, caramel sweetness.

Draft. A light clear brown. Scent of bread. Taste is nuts and rye. Server said it was her choice. Go with the Stout or IPA.

On draught at the brewer’s theater, it pours a murky copper into the glass with a fizzy head that reduces to a thin ring, leaving soapy lace. The nose has a bit of yeast and legume. The flavors are nutty with yeast sourdough. There is an aerated nut bitter finish. The mouthfeel is unilateral without a lot of complexity. The body is light with soft carbonation. An ok rate, but not a top-shelf brown.

on tap @Brewers Jam-pours an off white head and dark amber color. Aroma is slight cocoa. Tast is slight cocoa, earthy.

Hazy dark copper. There is a good nuttiness, but there’s also a strange thin bitterness that’s not entirely pleasant.

Clear brown, no head. Smells very bready, with a some mild peppery aromas mixed in with the toasty notes. Flavor is toasty, with a hint of rye, and maybe some notes of black pepper.

Copper pour with off white head and lace. Semi sweet malt with a nice resiny bitter. Nice carbonation with good mouthfeel. Nice beer.

Draft sample at the 13th Annual Knoxville Brewer’s Jam. Light brown in the glass with an off-white head that settles to a ring. Aroma of nut and toasted malts. The flavor found toasted malt, nut, and caramel. Light body.

Light copper color, white head. Nice lace a Bit lighter than expected for a Brown Ale. Nice lace! Nice malt flavor. Toasted malt, distant wort aroma. Flavor is of rich toasted malt, hints of sweet malt, light hop bitterness. Light for a Brown Ale, tastes like a Scotch Ale though.

Draft sample at Knoxville Brewers Jam 2009.
Poured a clear dark brown color with an average frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting and excellent lacing. Moderate toasted sweet malt aroma. Medium body with a thin smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium roasted bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration.
Drinkable above average brew.
