Draft. Golden color, small white head. Aroma has peppers. The peppers sneak up on you in the taste fairly quickly, then keeps building. Nice bite to this one.

Keg at the brewpub on Coxe, Asheville, 17/02/15. Clear golden with a moderate off white cap. Nose is light spice, trace of green pepper, malt, toffee. Taste comprises caramel, green chilli heat - but subtle enough and kept in check, vanilla essence. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Ok.

Draft. Lightly hazed amber body with medium off-white head. Aroma is moderately sweet, orange, grapefruit, juicy jalapeno. Taste is medium sweet, orange, light chile/chile heat. Light-medium body, light acidity. Really like how the heat in the nose is significantly moderated in the taste.

Sample at the brewpub. Slightly hazy orange color with a medium thin white head that recedes steadily. Spotty lacing. Aroma of hops, peppers and malt. Light to medium body with flavors of earthy malt, jalapeno and herbal hops. The finish is peppery and malty. Decent overall.

4oz on tap at the brewpub. Clear orange amber color. Thin off-white head. Leaves great, thicker lace. Whoa. I did not expect the pepper before my first sip. It’s certainly obvious now. Though, not over the top. Nice roasted, toasty smoked jalapeno pepper aroma. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of soft, lighter carbonation. Light slick finish. Moderate sweet taste. Light bitter. Some peppery kick. Definitely interesting stuff. Fun to try.

Draft. Pours amber orange with a white head. Light chili aroma with some pale malts. The flavor has good jalapeno flavor with not a ton of heat, with a plain pale malty base. Solid.

Draft to pint. Looks decent; a deep copper with nice lacing. Smells like jalapenos. Tastes like shit. Overly peppery with an awful mouthfeel. I wouldn’t recommend this.

Draft at the brewpub on Coxe. Wow ... this is an aptly named brew. The pepper jumps out at you instantly and sticks with you. Quite spicy, but the pepper is also well-woven into a solid pale ale. If this is your thing, it’s a good thing. But not for everyone. (#4295, 10/5/2011)

I think chile peppers are an underused ingredient in beer. More, please, I say! Anyway, this one smelled like jalapeno pepper and caramel. Flavor was also jalapeno and caramel at first, but eventually the pepper overtakes everything. Sure, this may be a novelty, but I liked it.
